Okay, here's the final results for the Pacquiao Singles event. It ended at Midnight last night.

1. Thorsten Hohmann $12,000. He defeated Roberto Gomez 13-12 in the finals after trailing 12-7. Roberto is always the bridesmaid!
2. Roberto Gomez $6,000
3-4. Dennis Orcollo (lost to Gomez 11-9) and Romeo Silvano (lost to Thorsten 11-8) $2,500 each
5-6. Jericho Banares (lost to Dennis 9-7) and William Millares (lost to Thorsten 9-7) $1,500 each
7-8. Johann Chua (lost to Dennis 9-7) and Antonio Lining (lost to Thorsten 9-5) $750 each

In the Winners side semis Gomez beat Millares 9-7 and Silvano beat Banares 9-6. Thorsten won something like nine matches in a row after losing in the first or second round. He played like the champion he is, on difficult equipment, equally difficult conditions and a strong pro-filipino crowd. I was most impressed with young Chua, truly a world class player. It took Dennis at his best to knock him out. I will post a picture of him on here later.

Now it's on to the big one, the Doubles with a $100,000 purse. First place is $40,000! Three teams are coming from Taiwan for this one and the field should be very strong.

Congratulations. I have not been in the PI for over a decade now maybe its time to go back.
 
Just ran into Dennis O at the hotel here in Gensan.

My daughter's mom had the nickname J'lo because of her big butt. I just expanded on it by adding an A. Haven't seen another girl yet with that name but sure I will one day. I have an older daughter we named Breanna. At that time it was a unique name. Now there are many girls with versions of that name, but few spelled the same way.

I'm heading home soon, my trip coming to an end. I'm already planning my next trip here next year. Only 30 days on my visa and I used all of it!
 
Back home now. Some pics to share. I'll put them on here and tell you about each one.

The first two are from the little two table room in Puerta Galera. I borrowed a cue to play there, 100p a game Rotation. It's hot and damp in there and you need powder just to be able to stroke the cue. I broke even with that young guy (only four games).

The next pic is with my girl in the biggest poolroom in Davao at Guisano Mall. Some very good players come through there. Some pretty good Brunswick Metro tables in here. The last pic is Neal, a young Filipino kid (maybe 20) who plays very good. I played him some Rotation as well and broke even, but would not play him 9-Ball. The poolroom is called Playboy Billiards in Cebu.

Some more pics. The first is Pacman Stadium where the singles tourney was played. Then an over view of Playboy Billiards in Cebu. That's Roidan working on my cue, taking some weight out. He does some nice work and a very good guy. The last one is Neal robbing another guy at 100p a game. I had to wait to play him.

Finally some pics of Daanbantayan, a small town at the northern edge of Cebu Island. That's a look down the main drag and the oldest building in town, a church built in the 1700's. The outdoor market has everything fresh; fish of all kinds, meat and lots of good fruit and veggies.

A few more. An abundance of good food at this market and all organic (no pesticides here). The very top of Cebu Island where the road ends. That's Malapascua Island in the distance, a diver's paradise. The last pic is where my friend cooked up a seafood gumbo bar-b-que at his home. DELICIOUS!

Cool stories jay. I too will one day soon get around to doing a magnificent blog like yours. As im familiar with all the places tables and environments here in the philippines. I can feel the frustrations of the atrocious pool table conditions. However hidden away in every provence lays a beautiful pool bed and a set of aramiths. when u find it its like being a pirate that found treasure without a map. Iwalked the hard road to accomplish.
