Mark Tadd and Qualifiers Question

First of all, it looks like Mark Tadd is back! I want to wish him congratulations. I have not been following the IPT recently, because I haven't heard much. Are these qualifiers for players to actually be IN the IPT or just to qualify to play in a certain IPT tournament? Or are they qualifiers for qualifiers? They all seem pretty small. Either way, I am very glad to see Mark Tadd back in action. For those of you who don't know, when he was still playing pool in the early 90's, he was one of the most feared players in the world. Efren was once asked how this guy Mark played. Efren replied, "Just like Sigel". That should say alot!

If Mark Tadd is the same guy as Mark Tademy, then he's just won his spot (among 200 players) in the $2 million North American Open in Vegas July 22-30. He went through undefeated http://www.internationalpooltour.co...s/NA_open_06/Online_coverage/NA04/default.asp

If he makes the top 6 in the North American Open, he'll be pretty much assured membership on the tour for 2007.

If he finishes mid-field, he'd have to win another qualifier into the World Open to have a reasonable chance to get enough points to make the 2007 member list (top 100). Those qualifier spots will be held in a couple of months.

Failing that, he could try to qualify for the 2007 qualifying event in December. I think 150 spots via 75 qualifiers are up for grabs there, with those 150 playing against the lowest 50 or so from the 2006 member list.

Simple ain't it;)

And I used to think that trying to understand how to qualify for the WPBA was complicated.

Actually, if one goes to the IPT website it is all explained in a pretty straightforward manner there.

I just wonder how KT managed to come up with all these variables in one try and find the team to put it all together. When you really think about it it is a rather mind boggling operation. And then he presented it in a manner which seems to have been readily accepted by the pool fraternity. He presented just enough information, at just the right time, so that he didn't scare too many people away.

I wonder if KT is a fisherman?

i think mark tadd is one of the most underrated players of all time. the older players (eg incardona, miz, sigel etc) ALL know what he was capable of, but its like hes relatively unknown otherwise.

the one thing ill say about his ability: in the la open, which was kinda like derby city but not with as strong a field (but still very strong), he won 9ball, won banks and got 2nd to steve cook (who seemed to be unbeatable around that time) in the one pocket. that is incomprehensibly amazing in my opinion.

And won 26k, the biggest pay check of the year in 1993. It might be one of the biggest in 2006 too. Shows you how far Men's Pro Pool has progressed.

Rafael Martinez told me Mark shot straighter than Earl Strickland... That's all I had to hear. And that he practiced every waking moment.

Since Mark got back into pool a few months ago, he has won every tournament he has played in. He is STILL an amazing player. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the IPT open in July. Go Mark!!!

C'mon Jay. We both know that a lot of players are going to earn more than that in July.

How about Keith getting paid $4,000 for playing in 4 exhibition matches this weekend? And Mike was paid $2,000 for playing in 4 exhibition matches.

And I am sure Mark Tadd is looking at much bigger paycheck in July too.

Funny how Mark was on here posting for a minute, but was chased off quite quickly because he was typing in all lower case or some nonsense. Mark is a phenom, period.

I was at the LA Open too, and Mark Tadd's skills at the table were simply amazing. In a very strong field to win or place highly in all 3 events just shows how comprehensive his talent is. Congrats to Mark for making it into the IPT!

ShaneS that is not exactly true for Mark winning every tournament. The first tournament I saw him in was at Wendover NV and he did win the 9-ball but not the 8-ball event.

Then I saw him in Twin Falls and he got 2nd in the 8-ball to Damien from Salt Lake. I lost a $50 sidebet on him with the other Damien. I am not sure how he did in the 9-ball but Damien also won that one.

Then he was at the pechauer tour stop at Backstreet billiards in Boise. He got knocked into the losers pretty early maybe 4th round and came back to beat Justin Bergman in the finals. I was his first match in the losers side and he went up 6-1 on me in a race to seven. He played safe on me in the eighth rack and then it ended up 6-5 and I had an easy 3 ball out but shot the 6 a little hard and it rattled. It was nice to see him go on to win it though. He shot lights out against Bergman. He can stroke a cue ball better than any I've ever seen.
