U.S. OPEN in October! You have lots of time to get ready. Play some small local tournaments to stay in action. Hit some balls every day. You'll be fine. It will all come back to you. You may be a better player now, since you have matured as a man.

When you feel ready give me a call.

Dennis could spot Efren the 3-out, and if Efren never gets to the table, Dennis wins. Everyone should keep in mind, that no matter who spots who, if only one person is playing, it doesn't matter who gave what to who. I've heard of Mark Tadd giving pros weight, and the same thing, they got to the table maybe twice. Doesn't mean much when both players are capable of running the whole set out.

Jay, Mark, CTS,

Love your posts. I'm sorry for getting in the middle of your emails. Just send me an email and you will have action. PayPal.

When I read posts like this, I kind of wish I had been on here when I had my last poolroom at Hollywood Park. I would have invited everyone to stop on by. I guess I was busy working. Sad to say, I lost my lease in 2005 and had to close down. But we had a good run for nearly four years, and I played more Pool than I had in the previous 15 years or so.

I let myself get seriously out of stroke, with no real motivation to play. But if you guys keep posting I may try to resurrect Toupee Jay, the world's greatest shortstop.

Mark Tadd turning down a game?!...what is the world coming 2..This can't be the Mark Tadd I remember from the west-coast..The guy that won the LA Open in the early nineties..That brother would bet that the sky ain't blue:D

Either this is an imposter(unlikely)or that Mark Tadd is dead...I think I speak on behalf of AZ when I say that we'd like to see the old Mark Tadd..Straight-shootin'Hard-bankin'fearless-playin' son-of-a-biotch.

No disrespect Mark,I am glad to know you are alive and well and I know that your season has probably passed but I do remember the good ole days.

Question:did you and Buddy Hall ever gamble..?

We've been around this block more than once. He is the real deal, and, he is the real deal.

Isn't there something going on at Sacramento? John Henderson was talking about getting in shape for the tournament, with chohan and some other big name players to play. I think it was in June...

Check HERE AT AZ IN the forum called: TOURNAMENTS
There may be some others.
Good shooting.

yeah Tony Watson was called "shrimpboat" back then..and he was a phenom! Don't forget young Dennis Hatch and Shannon Dalton..

He was also called "Jumpin Tony Watson" in those days too.

Incardona and DiLiberto have both said that when Buddy beat Efren at Red's, it was after Efren had been up for like two days, having beaten all the other top players, in a row. They said Efren was visibly exhausted, and DID NOT PLAY WELL AT ALL. If Buddy beat him when he was exhausted, it doesn't hold much merit IMO.

I thought it was Buddy who had been up for two days partying.

Not saying this didn't happen, But Dennis really was no match for a in stroke Tad. If this happened there had to be other things in play.

Not to argue or discount what you stae, but I have to diafree as there were times that Denis Hatch would play as good as anyone. There were times where he was just another pool playuer too.

Mark, they are holding the tournament at Hard Times Billiards in Sacramento this year. $6,000 added 9 ball starts June 19th & $3,000 added one pocket starts June 22nd.

As I understand it, The Sands doesn't want to host two tournaments a year, and the December Tournament will be back in Reno. Hope to see you here. John Henderson

I have a lot of repects for Dennis' game. He's an excellent shotmaker, he also performs weel under pressure. BUT! He doesn't always play the best shot he knows of, his knowledge of the game isn't at par with let's say the 30 best players in the world. I am not always impressed by his behavior although it seems to get better with time.

The good old days sigh.....lol Im only 41 thats far from dead I just need a reason to play meaning the ability to support myself without taking in the top two or three every tourny . buddy Hall ? Just the challenge match we had here in utah after the L.A. open in 93 . Two days a race to 40 , I barely won 38-40
3000.00 winner take all put up by the owner at EO's billiards SLC Utah.

Mark was ready to play ANYONE then! No one was barred! The only players who may have had a chance of beating him at his peak were Busti and Buddy, the two big B's.

I'm editing this to include Johnny back then. I really shouldn't have left him out. He was at his top speed when Mark was peaking. Dennis was certainly one of the rising stars in Pool at the same time, but I don't think he would have wanted to play Mark back then. Just like he would have avoided the other three on here.

It's hard to gauge their relative speeds, but Dennis was right there in the elite circle of players from an early age on. Buddy, Busti and Johnny were a little more seasoned as high stakes gamblers, and perhaps more consistent as well. They would have been my picks if they were to match up with Dennis in the early 90's. And Mark was almost in another world, his game got so strong so quick. EVERYONE was a little wary of him! And he was fearless. No doubt he would have played any of these guys, even woofing at them on occasion. Only around Buddy did I see him dummy up. He had a lot of respect for the old man.

And by the way, Parica was still THE MAN! NO ONE challenged him back then! Not Johnny, not Busti, not even Buddy. They just said hello to each other and went on their way. As good as Mark was, he would give Parica a wide berth.

The stories that I hear about Tadd seem to me like the modern day SDK, especially when you talk about the heart and work ethic.
