Mark Wilson - A True Visionary - Compulsive

Yes this is a good video I watched it yesterday and posted in the thread from

Tor Lowry Interviews Mark Wilson
Sloppy Pockets

While Tor Lowry was in St. Louis filming an episode of his 14 Day Experiment series, he stopped by Lindenwood to interview his old friend Mark Wilson. Mark discusses the Mosconi Cup, the current state of pool in America, his passion to change it, and his plan to do so. He also talks about the trials and tribulations involved in writing what Tor (and numerous others) considers to be the best pool book ever written.

This is really a must watch interview. What Mark is doing - and why- is explained in great detail, and it should leave no doubt in your mind that he is on the only possible track at this point if the game is to flourish in this country again.

I am now a big fan of Mark Wilson as a result of what he revealed in the interview. Good luck to him and his team.

Excellent interview. We are very fortunate to have him as the Captain. I personally love his approach regarding the candidates.

The full 48 min video from this post yesterday is what I watched, and as I posted in the original thread about this video it was excellent. THANKS

Great video, really enjoyed it. I have Mark's book as well so it's great to hear some about the creation of it. Thanks for sharing!

It's nice to hear him discuss his views at length. The more I hear about what he's doing, the more I understand that the Mosconi Cup competition itself is only a part of this. He wants to try to use this as a vehicle to improve the image of pool in the US in general.

I'm curious pro9dg about the title of this thread. Visionary - Compulsive? Is that a new personality I've never heard of? ;)

Man how could you not like this guy ? He is definitely going about it in the right way and his book is excellent. After watching this took $40 out of my wallet and put in my drawer. Its the start of a saving program to go and get some lessons from him. Thanks for posting the link !

There are a few Americans who rise above all the hubbub surrounding our sport and do everything in their power to enhance the sport and to promote the growth and refinement of our game. Mark Wilson is most definitely one of them, and Team USA couldn't be in better hands.

I'm from the Northeast, and we've got one of our own gems in these parts. His name is Tony Robles, 2003 BCA Open champion, former member of a Mosconi Cup winning team and two time sportsman of the year on the PBT.
I'm guessing that Tony is a future Mosconi Cup captain.

Thanks to Matchroom for selecting coaches who truly understand the standards we must set if Amercan pool is to move forward.

Good luck to Mark and Team USA. We know you'll make us all proud.

I agree; what would happen if Tony and Mark teamed up?????????????? sky's the limit on that one !

Immediately after the watching this interview, I went to Mark Wilson's site and ordered his book.

He is the Coach K/BIll Bellichick of the billiards world right now. Im expecting great things to result from his era of being Captain of the Mosconi Cup team.

We have never had a real sports manager treatment to this game here in America. Mark Wilson and the Lindenwood University program is the start of something special. Bravo to him and our USA Mosconi Cup team.

Couldn't agree more. Mark is one of the pillars on which the future of pool in America is built, and that's a good thing for all of us.

I agree 100%. Tony stopped into St. Louis this winter I think. He came into a pool hall I frequent, but I missed it. Everyone there said he was extremely gracious, and generally, great to be around.

If Tony is ever back in St. Louis, we would definitely appreciate it if he would make a trip to our local pool hall.

I agree with your post 100% SJM.
