HEY, it rained for the entire week I was there and I'm NOT paying.... ok ? OK ?

I really liked Orlando a lot. Everything was so clean, and the people there, most of them transients from other States in the Union who emigrated to Orlando, were all welcoming and friendly.

I'd take Orlando any day of the week over Vegas. That place was just too doggone hot! 110 degrees in the shade.

There's a little more to the story, but I can't and won't publish the reason why Keith has not played any pool since last September.

FWIW, it is worth a lot. If the abrupt end of the IPT didn't sour Keith on pool then will the possible recreation of the IPT bring him back into playing? What the American pro pool player has the opportunity to earn is unjust compared to their skill level, we have all talked about that. But after 40 years of playing pool, is Keith really in it for the money?

Your perception is quite astute as far as players of Keith's ilk.

Keith's been at this pool racket a lot longer than me, and his priorities in life and mine do vary. I got a chance to see firsthand what it's like to follow the tournament trail on a regular basis, well before the IPT. I soon realized that being the best that you can possibly be is the drive of most pool players. The money is just the icing on the cake.

Keith definitely likes money, but his love of pool goes deeper than that. He's an entertainer at heart, and when he's got the audience on his side, it is the fuel which drives his pool engine. His opponent will be in deep doo-doo when this happens. He wants spectators of pool to have a good time, and when he competes, this is always foremost on his mind. Though this repulses some pool purists, that's Keith's style and always has been.

At a tournament in New England one year, Johnny Archer and a player whose name escapes me were playing in the finals. In another area of the pool room, actually a separate room, Keith was playing The Russian some long-rack banks. Guess who the majority of the spectators at this event were watching? Keith's table was packed. There were a handful of spectators watching the finals.

Keith's health is better today than ever before, which is a good thing, and yes, Keith is very passionate about the IPT and Kevin Trudeau's efforts, as am I. If the IPT train comes around the track, Keith will definitely hop aboard and take a ride on the IPT once again!

And no, it's not about the money, though money is great. It's all about the almighty win!

I may be wrong, but I believe it was the top 100 IPT-ranked players.

Johnnyt........the top 100 on the IPT ranking list at the end of 2006 would have received automatic 2007 tour cards. After cancellation of the originally intended Uk event there was only one other remaining 2006 tour event to be played that would have counted for IPT 2006 rankings (a members only event), had things not gone belly-up at that point.

Not sure what prompted you to ask this question about whether top 100 or top 150 would automatically get 2007 cards immediately after JAM mentioned Keith but if your question was connected in some way with the likelihood of Keith earning a 2007 tour card via a final 2006 ranking in the top 100 all that can be said is that no-one will ever know for sure. At the time he was lying 119th with $10,000. As I recall the status of the intended payout structure, I think that all tour card holders who played the final 2006 event, had it taken place, would have been guaranteed a minimum of at least another $5,000 even as a first stage loser, possibly a little more than that, can't remember exactly. At the time IPT folded it appeared likely that around $17,000 total seasons earnings was going to be the magic number to make the top 100. Smart money would therefore say that Keith would very probably have made it but it wasn't a shoe-in absolute certainty as he might conceivably not have made it through round one and thereby fallen short of the top 100.

IPT's published intention was that any 2006 tour card holders who didn't make it into the final top 100 ranking for 2006 after the last event (it was mathematically certain that there was going to be somewhere between 60/70 of them in that position) would have been granted another chance to gain a 2007 card by being given direct entry straight into in the intended December grand final of the qualifying system for the remaining 50 tour cards for 2007. It was never made absolutely clear by IPT whether any of the 60/70 existing card holders finding themselves in that position were going to get free entry or whether they would have to pay an entry fee.
