Match ups you would like to see at DCC

Sparky Ferrell and Johnny Archer

I would love to see these to play again....last time was at the NC State Championships and Sparky beat Archer 9-2 in the finals after putting him in the loosers bracket at the beginning...I think it would be awesome to see the rematch....

Only reason I'm even going is just in case of another Schmidt-Pagulayan straight pool matchup. The last one was to 300 points, lasted 5 1/2 hours, and was the best pool match I've ever seen (Pagulayan edged Schmidt 300-298, you could cut the tension with a knife). Maybe we'll get the re-match into the AZB room. Now THAT would be something to remember.

I got to see the 112 run but shortly after that I fell asleep about 3 a.m.

I always felt kinda stupid for that until I went to the tournament room last year at 9:30 in the morning on the Sunday after the finals.

There was still action going on and there were sweaters sleeping on chairs and on the floor and in the corners sitting up and lying down and everything in-between.

Willie, who knows, with the IPT being the big thing now we might get to see some high stakes 8-ball. Anything can happen at the DCC.

Maybe I'm nuts but I thought the 10 ball game with Tony W. and Lil Joh Hager was a great game. Anyone else catch that? If memory serves correctly they played 2 sets for ??? and the second set lasted for 13 1/2 hours. Was a really tight match. Lil John got 2 on the wire to 10 ahead and come out on top.
Then Lil John played Hennessee later that same night. Lil John came unwound and lost to Hennessee.
I would like to see Tony Watson (clean) match up with John Schmidt 10 ball, 10 ahead for anything.
Yeah, I sweated quite a bit of that matchup. Probably my all time favorite derby matchup. Great shooting by both. Hager has so much heart! I think he came by that honestly. His dad was on the road about 10 years ago and came through Oneida, Tennessee. Local room owner put a player from Kentucky in action with him. They tried to tush hog Hager(sr) a little and he replied " I've worn out two sets of tires looking for someone like you guys"! Won over 3 dimes that day. By the way, I was thinking Hager jr just got one game on the wire against Watson?

I not exactly sure what a tush hog is......but I know that John Jr.has lots of heart. More than most and ability to match. I hope he makes a showing at the DCC this year as I haven't heard about him in awhile. I'll have to give him a call to see what he has been up to. If anyone knows, let's hear it.

I was betting on Jon Hennessee in that match and it was going on at the same time that the Alex-Schmidt match was. I was sweating Alex for a bill and I was going a bill a game on Hennessee. Every time Hager Jr. would stop to woof or Hennessee would complain about the rack I was running to the tournament room to get score updates on the straights match. When Schmidt got to 298 I wrote it off and didn't go back in there. Two hours later the guy I was betting with wandered in the lounge I presumed to collect his money. I was happier when he handed me the cash. I came out fairly well on those two.

BTW, who did Willard try to put on Hager in Oneida?

Well to quote Buddy Hall's biography, "a bad dude who is prone to physical violence". But in the story I was telling, more like "someone who is acting like a bad dude". Ha Ha

There are many matches I would like to see @ the DCC

Efren playing Cliff again.
Hagar, Jr playing Tony Cohan again.
Matlock playing Bowman on a barbox.
Lil-John playing anyone for all he has.
Alex playing and laughing.
Buddy playing 9-Ball with anyone in the world
If he ever got back in 1975 stroke. Or just 95%.
A $25K per player ring game with a player -
(I won't mention) in it.
Me playing anyone for major $ (with the NUTS).
That used to be a redundant phrase, but no more.
Ike playing One Pocket.
Squirrel there and playing.
K.T. there observing and getting ideas.
Me playing Efren in the One Pocket Finals.

TY & GL

Ps. re; An earlier post - A Toch-Hog is (was) a big tuff SOB that worked for the $ or the boys.
and FYI - John Hagar, Sr ain't exactly no sissy.

What kind of spot is Chew gonna have to have? You know he won't play without the nuts.

He thought he had the nuts when he played golf against Shannon, Coltrain, and myself. $1450 later him and his partner left without paying. He is a piece of shit.

Gotta be a match between Efren and Frost, 1P for the big $. From what I've been reading and hearing, there could be a changing of the guard for 1P supremacy between these two eventually, with Frost taking over as #1. Sure like to be there for that. Though he doesn't gamble, IMO most fun player to watch is Charley "Hillbilly" Bryant, particularly banks. He does stuff that boggles the mind - unbelievable stroke - check him out if you get the chance.

Battles of the Namesakes
Tommy Kennedy vs Senator Edward Kennedy
Buck Tooth vs Buck Showalter
Luc Salvas vs Luke Skywalker
Frankie Hernandez vs Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez
Rodney Morris vs Rodney King
Johnny Archer vs Johnny Damon

I'm sorry - but thats your fault.

If he left without paying that means it wasn't posted.

lol, I don't know if you've ever played golf, but its kind of tough to post when you start out at $150 a hole and have two different matches going with presses in each. Furthermore, they didn't just leave after the match. They cut a trail down another fairway while we were hitting our approach shots on the 16th hole.

WOW--I thought pool was a amorphous sport played by vile, treacherous characters while golf was the game of choice for most yuppies/yum-yums.Did the stiffers pick up some $ under a table in B-town after they vanished into thin air during broad daylight? What happened to the days when there were (repercussions) for stealing from and stiffing people? Are we all just walking around feeling warm and fuzzy?
