There is a lot of misinformation out now that I'd like to correct. There may be some small amount of reveling too, and if that comes out a bit keep in mind that I have absorbed, by-and-large in silence, several months of abuse. Can't wait to hear your full write up. I missed all of the lead in to this match, but ended up watching almost all of the play. After the first 2 racks, I'll admit, I started rooting for the underdog JB, and it was a hell of a thing to watch.

Make sure in your write up to hit:
1. Your first foul... interesting way to start a $20k match
2. The late night play, it looked like you guys were both wearing down
3. Whatever the hell was going on on the sidelines. Heard rumors, but...

I don't know either of these players personally. All I knew before this match is that Lou likes to play One Pocket and Straight Pool, he enters a pro event here and there (though he isn't a pro), I love his writing style and I look forward to his write-ups from the events he goes to. I knew that JB makes a fantastic product, has a mixed relationship with a lot of forum members, enjoys playing pool and has absolutely no problem posting his opinion... about anything.

The only other thing I knew was that, somewhere along the way, a grudge came to fruition between these two men. I'm not sure how, when or why, but that really doesn't matter to me... Grudges happen.

I didn't follow all of the threads, and the ones I did follow, I didn't follow very closely. However, I am aware that, leading up to the match, Lou had been very quiet and JB had been very... well... not quiet.

At the end of the day, both of these men had the guts to put the money where their mouths were ($10,000 each isn't exactly chump change) and play on a live stream, for all to see. They are both to be commended for that.

I watched quite a bit of the match. Naturally, without a dog in the fight, I was hoping for a hill-hill match. This, of course, means that I was pulling for JB to even it up after he (let's face it) essentially gave Lou 2 on the wire. In the end, as expected, the steady, calm, more experienced player won the match.

Lou - Congrats on the win. Well played, Sir.

However, reading through this thread has me a bit taken aback. For someone who endured as much public jawing (for lack of a better term) as he did, I don't think many of us would blame Lou if he came on the forum and gloated a little. There are many who would love to toss the "I told you so" out there as soon as they had the chance. However, Lou comes on here and replies to post after post with a bit of humor and an abundance of class.

After an ordeal as trying as that must have been for you (from a playing, personal and monetary perspective), it can't be easy to be as good of a winner as you are being.

To be honest, I don't know that I am that good a person on my own. But I know one person who is and where all that came from is my wife, Gail.

In the run up to the match -- even at the airport as she was dropping me off me with pool cue case in hand -- she repeatedly admonished me to "take the high road" to "stay classy." She is well aware that I have a quick temper and if I had engaged, it might have quickly have been me standing nose-to-nose with John.

She saved me from myself.

Great match. Great venue. I can't think of one thing I could complain about except I should have eaten something earlier.

I think Pat recorded it, so maybe it will be available.

The decision to watch it live was one of the better choices I've made.

The venue, and room owner, Ed, were great. It was also great to see you there, Freddy. BTW, you should have eaten with us. We found a great kosher deli in Metuchen for lunches and ate at Arthur's Steakhouse a couple of nights. And unbelievable 23oz ribeye for 23 bucks. It was the nuts.

I watched a little and to be honest I think they both play at the same speed and either could have ended up the winner but as every match goes there can only be one winner. Thanks for the entertainment it was enjoyable to watch

By and large, everyone seemed to dig it. I've heard from a few folks that we were over 700 viewers on the stream at some points.

You know, I hadn't anticipated doing it, but in many situations during the match I'd come to the table and want to play my normal stye, which is actually more aggressive and offense oriented. But I'd be there looking at my options and would decide in favor of patience because I didn't want my backer to think I was taking flyers on his dough :-o
