Matchroom 2023 UK Open (nineball), 30May-4June, Winner $30K

Is there a ref on the Aranas/Gorst match? In the short clip Matchroom shared on FB (below, for those who can see it), after Aranas pockets the 9-ball to go up 7-1, he clearly reaches his hand in two pockets well before the CB stops moving. Wondering if there is an official rule that states this is a foul or not. Someone should tell James to be careful about that, especially for future matches with a ref. Hate for there to be another Change/Filler incident.

Woodward down 2 to 1 vs Swedish 14 year old Walter Laikre who beat Tyler Styer 9 to 8.

So what if this kid beats our 2nd and 3rd best 9 ball players?
Pathetic

skyler will probably win. still, it will be a valuable experience for walter. and it was a looong time since i saw a fellow swede on a tv table in an open event, eurotours excluded. hopefully a rising star

He plays good
Cueball a little funny here and there, but he shoots really straight

5 to 4 with Walter breaking.
I think this young man could pull this off.

Pool is a crazy thing.

6 to 6....What a surgical out he just ran.

Walter Breaking. Tough 3 ball....duck son duck.

7 to 7
Walter missed a up table safe....

Sky takes a break...icing the kid and trying to find his motivation. They both played very well.

First big name casualty out is Albin. Otherwise, all been good on Austrian front with Max Lechner and Mario He through to last 64 with He making it from losers side.
Other notables on losers side- FSR, Chang JL, Gorst, Niels, Pagulayan, Sky, Alcaide, Sanjin, Kazakis. They have to play qualification match to qualify for last 64
Riku is first 14 year old through to last 64. Other 14 year old Laikre is tied Sky 7-7 in qualification match

Toughest do or die qualification match on losers side is Gorst v Kazakis which is up next on Table 1

Very nice match Woodward vs Walter. Nice pace, good play.
Walter may be the next European Wu in a couple years.

Slow players: Stay in your mom's basement
Cowboys: stay on the ranch

Here is a big-picture update from after the third elimination round. Another 32 will be eliminated before stage 2 (and some of those matches have already happened).

yes, he competes in snooker too iirc. although, the national snooker scene is smaller even than the US snooker scene.

well, he will learn lots from this. made a good move withdrawing from the junior event to play this
