Bob, never thought in our lifetime.... Evolution of 9 Ball would occur.

CEO of Matchroom Multisport. Pretty nifty. Sounds like she’s in charge of much more than just pool. Maybe it’s been that way for a while and I just didn’t notice. Or maybe she’s about to get a lot more responsibilities. I didn’t see any new names identified to carry the banner for pool. Hope her attention to pool doesn’t dilute any.

Being diversified in niche sports, will help all venues, from ideas and feedback from each.

seen a short vid of todays "fishing" gd guy grabbed a giant lens to look in the water to spot a fish. in addition to all the gadgets on the front of the boat. next theyll be running around with 50 inch flat panels and an underwater camera

Ball color choices aside, I think she and Matchroom have done a fantastic job for pool.

Question: can she get pool into the Olympics?
Why is that a yardstick?

I don't think pool ever gets to the Olympics.

I do think more people worldwide enjoy other cuesports than pool.

It would be exposure on a world stage where lots of people are watching.

I would also be in favor of other cue sports in the Olympics, as well.

The current planned path for participation in the Olympic Summer Games is the same format as in the just completed World Games -- pool, snooker and 3C. Well, maybe with the addition of heyball.

2036 is the next possible year if the Olympics are even still around then. I will try to find the news article that quotes the WPA about the timeline and the challenges with the 2028 (US) games and 2032 (Australia) games. Basically there are dozens are vastly more popular games that are ahead of billiards in line. Rugby will be added in 2032 and surfing in 2028 for example due to their regional popularity.

I doubt billiards ever had any chance, but maybe it was an effective fundraising tool for the WPA to pitch to developing countries.

Popular like dressage? I think there are a lot of sports currently in the Summer Games that are much less popular than cue sports, both on a participation basis and a viewing basis. Of course it's hard to get rid of the entrenched horse poo. It's possible that pool is the least popular cue sport discipline based on viewer numbers (but Matchroom is doing their best to fix that).

I would bet the IOC officials like socializing and fundraising with the dressage crowd.

I think if this ball starts to really roll, who cares, it's the USOC that will THEN need them.
Pools a game that can have a great player from ANYWHERE on the planet.

I get some of the most interesting/simple perspectives/ideas from people who, Know NOTHING about pool.
This helps allot when creating new platforms
Pools problem, in the 3 different Pro pool tours that I played in and supported, too many pool players, and nearly ZERO business minds.
Pool players 99.999999% of em have been unable, cept Hubbard/Bell/ACS John Lewis and maybe/Maybe a few others, who created startups.

If pool has any chance of getting in the Olympics, it would be through the WPA since the WPA is associated with the IOC.

I hope not. I anticipate a successful Olympics campaign would still yield some weird unwatchable joint Snooker, Carom, Pool event like they do at the World Games or the WCBS Championship. I’d rather see that energy spent on the commercial side of the sport.
