Do we know if the final 4 players play 1v4 and 2v3 during the single elimination final stage?
There is that effect where people we find aspirational get put into a position where they realize they ended up dead money but still have to continue to compete. It’s definitely something that challenges their emotions to the Nth degree.

Two more days and it cuts to 4? Or 6? This is an absurd amount of matches, and not as much drama so far for the cut offs as you'd like most of today felt irrelevant
The main interest in the final rounds is watching someone climb out of or fall into the cellar.

Hey, whaddya mean? The first year of this event (in 2021, with a different name and a somewhat different format, but still 8 days of races to 5) they played 192 matches. This year and the last 2 years they cut it way back to just 183.

they called it the predator championship league iirc. and players got paid both per match won and for tournament finish. i don't know if they get that know?

The website shows 16 prizes, adding up to the total purse of $100,000. It looks like the 16 positions are determined by number of matches won, with the tie breaker being the rack differential (games won minus games lost).
ok. i read 20k to the winner. the other system didn't have that even numbers, albin won something like 35640 $
edit: gotcha now, yes the positions are determined that way but doesn't seem like they're paid per match this time
I was impressed by Alcaide’s heart and attitude this week. I didn’t see or hear any complaints from him all week (he went 1-14) and basically was playing for the fans and the love of the game the last few days.
Imagine if Earl played this in his prime and went 1-14
We might have seen > 8 broken cues.
I'd put the over/under at 12.
