Are you talking about the guy from Front Royal, VA. that plays in the Planet Pool tournaments?
Purdman

I'm pretty sure his last name is Clatterbuck. (Not sure if it is C or K. I remember a clatter in their though :D )

I met him at Valley Forge this year. Real nice guy. Plays pretty sporty.

Matt came to Michigan and played Ronnie Wiseman, he played pretty good but not up to Ronnie's speed. He seemed like a nice guy and the guys he was with were good guys also.

MAtt is a also master engine builder also, I read here once.

He doesn't like it when Dunn is his beer.

I know Matt well. He is one of the best players we have in Va. When it comes to bar box he is one of the best and you can bet winn or loose he will be a stand up guy either way. I have seen him play for BIGGGG bucks here in Lynchburg once he won and once he lost. it was never any hard feelings either way. He played ball in collage but didnt make it to the Pros. He now works for UPS and makes big bucks there as we all know UPS pays well. He dosent play as much as he would like to i am sure. He is one that is smart eneough to get a real job because he knows there is no money in pool. I think he could play Pro anytime he wanted but like i said there is no money there. Great Guy and a good friend, Doug

What I've learned....

I believe the proper spelling is Matt Clatterbuck......

I first saw Matt in action at Valley Forge this year....he beat Adam Smith for some big cash.......I just asked Bill McCollim (one of Pittsburgh's best) about Matt this past Sunday. Bill said Matt is a very very strong player with as much heart & gamble as anyone. I also asked him who would win if Matt and Gerry Slivka would gamble.....apparently Matt has beaten Gerry out of about $2300 in the not too distant past.....that is very impressive as Gerry is highly regarded when it comes to matching up.......also found out that Gerry then wanted to play Matt freezing up $10,000 (which Gerry raised) but Matt didn't want to play (or possibly couldn't get the $10,000). Bill also said that Jason Klatt really took it to Matt at Breaker's in Pittsburgh sometime in the past month..........apparently this Jason Klatt from Canada is even more of a world-beater than Matt....

One of the best moments at Valley Forge action pit this past March had Matt winning $100/game 10-Ball on the challenge table with some notable pros in the rotation like Parica, Nevel, Chohan etc. Well anyway, Matt had the table for a couple of games and Frankie Hernandez is up......Matt breaks and doesn't make anything.....Frankie has a shot on the one he's supposed to make on these 7-ft Diamond Smart tables but he misses/dogs it.......he sits backs down...Matt runs out....then Frankie starts mouthing off how "these tables are for drunks! Play me on a 9-Ft table!.....well Matt just starts telling Frankie basically that he'd play him anywhere, anytime and for Frankie to just STEP UP AND BET!......that was pretty cool to see....and Frankie just sat back down with his tail between his legs.

Also this past June up in Indiana, PA was the Pennsylvania State 9-Ball tourney...I think Matt finished 4th.........but Bushwhacker told me that Matt eventually got all the money gambling with the winner after the tournament ended....I think the winner was Shin Park....

Thanks for the response. I had seen him in Raliegh this past weekend and heard that he can play well. I thought he might ask mike fuller to play but for some reason he didn't. Guess he had things to do...
Thanks again=)

Respect This!

He gambles on his own dime. No backers involved. He can play a mean game of 1 hole also. I respect that in a player.

I'm not sure of that one Purdman. I'm sure he does at times, but I'm sure he also has partners.

He came in Fast Eddie's in Spring last winter (8 Ball Rat was with me and saw him) and gave up a little too much weight to a local player (plays/gambles real good) for some, I think, $200 races to 5. He had a group of guys with him. He played real good, was a gentleman, but couldn't get there with that particular game. He just gave up too much. I think VARick was there too. Not sure how it turned out as I left - but we watched them play for a while.

Heard he gave Pooky the 7 ball recently and beat him for an undisclosed sum. That is pretty darn strong! I can't verify that though. Just pool grapevine talk as of right now.

I was there when pouky was barking at him for the 7. I heard Matt tell him there was no way because of what I said. He plays with his own money. That's from the horses mouth. It sounds like pouky got the seven and more game than he could handle. Also, Matt has a nice family and a couple kids he supports thru his job. I can see why he doesn't want to take more chance than his opponants are taking.
Hope to see you soon my friend.

A fairly unusual name, but I am sure the baseball player confusion comes from the similarity to a former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher named Bryan Clutterbuck.

You can find the limited details of Bryan's somewhat undistinguished baseball career here:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/cluttbr01.shtml

On a side note, the only reason I know any of this is because I recognized the name as being a player that played in the minor leagues in El Paso, Texas where I grew up.

Nope.He is from Greenville,S.C. But he talks like he from the deep south:D

By the way...Matt if your reading any of this...i wasn't trying to knock any future games you may get. Just trying to find out about players i have'nt heard of before. Might have to buy you in a calcutta or something one day. Sorry man=)

Ok just to clarify its Matt Clatterbak. He is from the VA area as you all have said. I have gotten the chance to see him play a few times.

Recently He finished 4th in the PA State 9Ball Tourney as stated earlier then went on after to beat Shin Park out of the First Place Money and then some.

My understanding is he plays Slivka even and recently won a decent sum.

Yes he was recently in Pittsburgh when all the action was going down. And he matched up with Jason Klatt (who is an excellent golfer also on the other hand scotter and John Morra are not) for a decent amount and lost. He came with 1 buddy who people were saying was his backer. (Not sure of the truth of this).

He is very polite win or lose and even talked about pool for a little while with a lowly C player like me. I also heard that he plays Straight pool just as well as he plays 9ball (Not sure of the truth on this one). I thought i could add a little about him but i think most of this was already said. What a bad way to give a first post.
