Maybe the greatest shot EVER! ralf souquet

I gotta be a bit of a wet blanket here...don't like the shot. Earl,in his prime, was very good at hitting this one thin and going 2 rails behind the 10-ball...worse case scenario, a tough leave.
Jose Parica was equally good at this

To back up that statement, just this last weekend, Earl played one or two nearly table length safeties in the 14.1 against Johnny that he cut so thin the OB moved less than 2"! Then Johnny did the same in responce...

I can't believe this people. You can not compare a stroke shot with this masterpiece. 3 rails in the side. Yes maybe he thought about leaving safe for He. I want to see you doing it in a hill-hill situation. Amazing shot

I think it is a helluva shot...considering it was also hill-hill at the time...and I do not believe it was 2-way to hide behind ten...would have had to hit it much harder and then the 9b would rolled to be in line with the bottom left

Actually, I think he hit it just a little too hard, not way too easy. My guess is the miss he intended was to leave the 9 ball on the side rail with the CB possibly hooked behind the 10.

That's exactly what would have happened if he cut it just a tad thinner.

meh - he missed the 2way safe. Guess it was alright other than that.

lol :)
you stand correct that he missed the safe, by my request Ralf explained it was a 2-way shot and he hit it too soft for a safe, so that the 9 ball barely went in. Also he told me the table rolled off a bit in the end and it also influenced the path of the 9 so that it could miss the pocket.

I can't argue that it is a great shot! But the greatest shot ever? Come on.
I can think of many other great shots. I also play this shot very often with a pretty good success ratio depending on the situation. I wouldn't risk taking this shot when I'm playing for money unless I couldn't see, at that moment, any other better option. But anyway, especially coming from Ralf Souquet I can't say I'm impressed. Nor that it is the greatest shot EVER.
It is beautiful, it is accurate, it is really well thought but that's about it. It is very nice to watch though...

btw: does anybody remember cory's shot against nick van den berg where he pushed to a long straight in shot with with the cue ball frozen to the end rail and he fired it in and drew the cue ball to the other side with the massè?

I remember!

Yes, it was the greatest shot I have ever witnessed. The ingenuity to conceive this shot to get position on the opposite side of the table was something in itself. To accomplish the shot with all the difficulty involved was just amazing!!! I can't remember what event it was though.

Yes, believe it was 2002 Mosconi Cup but not certain of that.

To make the shot is difficult enough. To push out for it and make it on the first try in a competition is insane.
