when trying to remove a 3/8x10 pin from a mcdermott cue butt, would you turn the pin the normal counter clockwise?

Just curious, why are you trying to remove a McD 3/8x10 pin?
The reason I ask is because this pin is one of the hardest to remove from a McD cue.
If it's not absolutely necessary to remove the pin I wouldn't.

actually it was pretty easy. i just heated it up with a torch, then held the pin with channel locks and turned the stick. came right out.

the reason i removed it was because it had somehow got bent. no idea how, but was definetly bent. now i just have to find one to put back in it.

The easiest way to fix is to put in lathe and get the cue running straight and take a rubber mallet and tap the pin straight. Sometimes the face also takes a hit especially if the shaft was screwed on when it got bent so the cue must be refaced.

Doing it this way keeps the collars from swelling from the heat you put on the pin. I only replace the pin if straighting it does not work which is almost never.

was more to the job then i realized. lol.

luckily i live near an awesome cue maker named alan phelps.
