McDermott Stinger ???

McDermott has 3 new J/B cue's called Stinger. They were in such demand that most all web sites had back orders on them waiting for them to come in...
Has anyone tried one of these??? The prices are reasonable on these and they look nice....Just wondering about performance.....
 
I have one and really like it. I think it is a very good break cue. I got it to replace a solid 1 piece bar cue I had been using for breaking and it breaks a lot better than the bar cue.
 
McDermott Stinger

Jerry Powers who makes the Stinger made some kind od deal with McDermott so they are selling the McDermott Stinger. Jerry's technlogy with their manufacturing (sp). FWIW Tom Simpson is a seller of the Stinger but the cue is from Jerry Powers of Jerico cues. As for playability, I think they play great. I use one and have since he started building them. I got one a few weeks ago and I like it. It jumps very well. Breaks solid. Great J/B for the money.
 
I bought the NG -01 and I love it. Jumps so easy I had to back off and go easier...Breaks a ton. Great cue for the money......Thanks for helping me to make this decision....
 
It looks as if I got a good F....king by buying the Stinger. Those McD's look real good for 1/2 the price.
 
I guess you have to consider the source you bought it from!:eek: :rolleyes: At least Jerry Powers makes a quality cue...but he has no influence on the people who sell them!

McDermott's manufacturing capability has made it possible for them to produce very good Stingers at a great price. Jerry Powers (Jerico Cues) has licensed our patented Stinger technology to McDermott, but he still makes the original custom Stingers (and I am still the distributor for those). Yes, they cost more. They are hand-made - not mass-produced. Jerry offers only top quality exotic hardwoods, and guarantees his tip & ferrule for life. An original Jerico Stinger is always going to cost more and retain more value than a production cue. I'm happy to see more affordable Stinger technology begin to enter the mainstream cue world.
 
Thanks Tom for ending the speculation regarding the Stinger. When I first saw that McDermott started using the Stinger name I was wondering what had occured. I have had my Stinger for about three years and think it is an excellent J/B cue. Mine is the bacote model..
