Measle balls in practice

I picked up an Aramith "Tournament" Black spotted cue ball just before Christmas because I decided to practice and actually learn some things and it's been a huge help to me. Wish I'd gotten one a long time ago. It hasn't left the table since.

I never liked the measle ball .. to me it always rolled funny. Can’t explain it honestly. I picked the triangle one that comes with the predator balls and have been using that for about a year. I like the way it play. Not sure if it helps but I like seeing how it spins

The better training ball is the elephant ball that has a realistic miscue limit and a black band that shows wobble clearly. Dr Dave also uses it as a convenient measure of the amount of spin applied in deflection tests (center cue tip on horizontal center at red circle). I like it for learning how much spin can be applied for top right or left spin (much less than I thought):

We mess around now and then timing how long we can spin one. Bet on the results.😉

The dots give some subliminal feedback I suppose. They seem to play heavier than the Centennial circle ball even though they clock in the same. Maybe the dots create the illusion of sustained motion. In addition to the authentic Aramiths I came across, I got the Chinese fake ones in blue and green as well as red. They aren't identically spec'd but they play the same to me.

As far as rotational feed back, that shouldn't be critical to the shooter. My concerns are the same as with a single color ball. The pool.

What is the difference between the one you have and the original red one?

I am in the market to buy a measle ball.

Well, the black dots seem easier to see.

And my unscientific feeling is that the black plays a bit harder than the red. I always felt the red, for whatever reason, played like it was a of a softer composition.

The red one alwas felt "light" to me for some reason and looked bigger than the other balls...maybe an optical illusion because of the spots.
