I tried one of these cueballs tonight, and actually played more with IT tonight, than I probably would have played with a regular cueball. IMO, this ball reacts VERY well. Does anyone know if there are ANY differences between these balls and regular balls? My only impression was that maybe it was just a HAIR lighter, but english worked fine, the size seemed right to me, everything seemed ok to me...It just seemed to roll a LITTLE further (maybe 1/8 in.) than a regular cueball does, but maybe that was just me? Anyways, if you haven't tried these and get the chance to, I highly recommend doing so...you'll really like it, I know I do. I may even buy one of my own to practice with. The red dots on it didn't even bother me, I even liked having them on there...it was kinda weird  ;) :D Opinions on these balls obviously are welcome...Let me know what YOU think of em'

I played for the first time with one on Wednesday, in a small tournament. Just like you, I didn't really notice any difference, and surprisingly, I wasn't distracted by the dots either.

The biggest difference I've noticed between the Measle ball and a regular Aramith cue ball is that fact that suppliers are asking $30 for them. Whaaaaaa?

I own a measle ball. It sits here by my computer. That is a good place for it because I don't shoot with it anymore. The reason is that at least this one rolls considerably further than the cue balls at my local pool halls.

It is interesting to watch the dots and see what the cue ball is really doing as far as spin instead of what you think it is doing however spending too much time practicing with it definitely messes up my position play until I adjust to the other cue balls.

Another thing I don't like is that they seem to have a clear coating on them. In the right light you can see dozens of impact marks on mine. Someone else had the same thing happen and blamed it on breaking with the measle ball.

I like to use it now and then just to confirm that I am holding spin on the cue ball or even using it as an object ball to answer that old question of how much spin can really be transferred but I won't play with it any length of time anymore.

I thought about buying one to help my buddy see how the CB spins, but at $30 a ball that is not going to happen!

I love using my Measles CB to play with, I like being able to see how the english is affected when it comes off the rail or goes two or three rails.

Plus I find that the measles cb rolls better, and with less effort. Plus Its nice being the only one in town that has bought one and has one available to use.

Been a long time since I've seen a blue circle cue ball.

The Centenial cue ball is blue circle;) We switch back and forth between it and the measel ball. there is a difference. Measel is a touch heavier and a touch bigger.

I used the measles ball once, but the next day, all the other balls in the rack called in sick and refused to roll into the pockets!!
:D

The very first time this polka-dotted cueball made its debut here in the States was at the 2003 U.S. Open, and when it arrived mid tournament, they brought it up to the TV table to see how it would do. The scuttlebutt was that folks watching the TV recording could see the spin and english used better with this cueball.

As luck would have it, the first TV table match to use the red-spotted cueball was Buddy Hall versus Keith McCready. The two of them didn't seem to mind, but they both examined it very carefully before the set.

Then it was lights, camera, and action. The race to 11 was quite uneventful. Neither player seemed to catch a gear. At one point during the match, Keith fired at a ball and came with a miss. He couldn't believe his eyes and said to his opponent, "Hey, Buddy, I think I must have hit the wrong dot." :D

It was a fairly easy shot that Keith missed too, and the expression on his face says it all!

Don't worry, humor appreciated. :D

Still in shock, Keith was frozen when he missed and glared at the ball with that deer-in-headlights look.

Buddy couldn't get to the table fast enough. The expression on Buddy's face says it all too! :D

Nice one, JAM!

That's what bothers me about the "measles" ball, I'd be too busy watching that & forgetting the important stuff! Like I need another distraction!:D

I've seen quite a variety of balls, but most times, the Aramith Super Pro seems to be the favorite in competitions.

On the final day of the 2004 Glass City Open, the TV table was set up, and the finalists were Charlie Bryant, Danny Basavich, Troy Frank, and Corey Deuel. There was a meeting beforehand to discuss the logistics of the semi-finals which was also going to be recorded on TV.

It was thought that maybe they could use a different set of balls for the TV matches, and so they brought in a set of these balls for the players to examine. The cueball was black!

Corey checked out the balls, and Troy Frank kept staring at this black cueball in disbelief. Pat Fleming had trouble containing his laughter! :D

When the dust settled, Corey said thanks, but no thanks to the introduction of the balls, to include that black cueball! :D

Pat Fleming was still snickering.

The matches went forth using the Super Pros by Aramith!

Charlie Bryant won the event, but Kid Delicious was the one who put on the show, running a 6-pack on Corey Deuel. It was an EXCELLENT exhibition of pool at its finest!
