Rick....just a thought...if you don't require proof of work for some sort of credibility to all table mechanics....then you might just as well still be nothing more than just a listing for advertizing. as I feel STRONGLY about show & tell...more than just word of mouth, or a listing on AZ as a form of contact. If a mechanic can't...or won't show their work...then what have we accomplished over the last 4 years?...Hide & seek? We can all tell what a mechanic's work is like...we can all see...and we all for the most part....know the differece between right and wrong. I for one....will not send work to someone that I haven't seen their work before...the truth is in the pictures;)

Yes heffe - I hear you.
On an ideal directory everyone would have a link to their pics and references in one place - what we're trying to do now. Remember the original intent was to provide just a resource list. With time we added a color legend indicating those that contributed to the forum, posted pics of work, or did not contribute at all.

To indicate that someone posted work pictures was a rep boost for contributing mechanics but required having to search to find those pics so while the intent was positive it did nothing for the end user seeking quality information when shopping for someone to do their table work. Providing a direct link to a mechanics pics and references solves that problem however it's up to each mechanic to take advantage of the opportunity. You and I can beat them about the head and shoulders all day but can't make them do it.

Strange thing tho is that the directory made the top of the page if someone does a search for "pool table mechanic" on google, yahoo and bing. To be included in the directory AND have a link to your web page or blog that can showcase your work helps one get found on a search - and the best part - it's free.

Some folks were added and never made a post. Some of those folks are the only listing for their state. There are some people we know little to nothing about but on a positive note - I haven't seen a complaint yet about someone (actually) listed. If we delete everyone that hasn't posted, contributed or provided a link to references/pics we will have about 10 or so people in the directory right now so that's not an option. I did see a need to tighten up a bit tho - by requiring people to be forum member and have at least a few posts before being added.

Change your screen name while you're at it Rick....to "daddydaycare"

Due to the underwhelming response I reckon it's time to shake up the tree.
Those listed in the directory that have not provided a link to a web page or blog page with pics of table work done will be deleted at the end of this month.

I know some of you have posted pics in various threads around the forum but I doubt anyone wants to search around to try to find them. You all have blog space on AZB. Use it for posting some pics that represent your work and any other info you want to share.

Would also strongly suggest you add your contact information so viewers don't have to try and look it up or go back to the directory.

I am working on my website right now, and will send you the link once I get the gallery together. This website isn't all that easy. I know pool tables, not this internet stuff!

If you're not a website guru it's easy to use your AZB blog.

From the menu at the top of the page click on Blogs/Your Blog
Then on left side of the page under your avatar select Post to Your Blog

Making a blog post is the same as starting a thread or making a reply in a thread.
So easy even a cobra can do it. :D

Directory Changed

If you haven't provided a link to a web page or blog with pics, etc you have been deleted.
Once you provide same you get added back.

It works.

Just a side note -
Consider what someone sees when they click on your references/pic link.
Let that be your guide to what and how much info you want to post.
In addition to the web links also having your name and tel# on each blog post is a good idea.

i.e.
Here are some pics of our work.
If you need pool table services in the NY, NJ or PA area give us a call.
