Medellin open WNT ranking event

It looks to me about 110-112 players started.

Groups of 4 players, play a double elimination bracket. The top 4 from each bracket advance to a double elimination 64 man bracket.

I think that then goes to a single elimination at 32 players, but unsure.

Forgive the ignorance of these questions:

Is Colombia an emerging market in pool?
Is pool growing in South America?

I've been told that billiards in Colombia was a lot like in Korea -- immensely popular. Mostly that's carom, of course, but it seems like there have always been vey strong South American pool players flying somewhat under the radar.

Stream back up but very intermittent. Neuhausen 3-1 Guanipa

was a route in the end. but interesting to see another venezolan guy do well. he beat alcaide etc. pretty slow player but he could team up with atencio in the world cup and possibly cause an upset or two.

i have no gauge of south american pool scene. i played in chile, argentina some 20+ years ago and my assessment then were that as a collective, their players are jumpier / twitchier than other players at that level. there was plenty of that in this event too but also players with good fundamentals.

Puerto Rico and Columbia seem to have a few good players on different social media platforms. Not sure it's emerging, more there, ready and waiting to be pimped and squished into the right shape by MR haha
There's some good Peurto Rican 10-ball vids that pop up from time to time on my feeds.
Guipa and Perea was the only game really worth watching in the Columbian tournament.

maybe, but i don't think it would be first in line for a MR produced open event. that's philippines. taiwan would also make sense.
