Meucci & Earl

Earl played great pool with his Meucci's back in the 80's and 90's. That's when he was winning everything. He actually had more success playing with a Meucci than any other cue. As far as I know, he really liked that cue. Of course Bob Meucci would go out of his way to accommodate "his" players. He would fix up their cues any way they liked. They were definitely "custom" cues made to their specs. Sigel, Varner, Hall, Rempe, Little David and Earl were all playing with Meucci's back then and dominating pro pool.

Earl had a lot of trouble adjusting to his Cuetec cue though. He confided in me once that it took him over a year to get used to the cue. It was that much different than anything he had played with before. And for that first year he didn't win anything, but he was well paid to use that cue!

Earl came over my shop about 6 or 8 months ago when he was using Meucci Cues again. He was having troubles with the cue, and I changed tips and changed the taper to what Earl thought would help. He was very dissatisfied with his game on this day. He went to hit some balls with the new tips and sanded shafts on my table upstairs and still could not preform like he wanted. I had one of his cues that I built as the Earl Strickland line up in my pool room. He picked it up hit a ball and got this big smile on his face and that was that.

This is a true story i was there on that day getting some tip work done, and earl came down the stairs . the tips were morri. And he was not happy with the way the shafts were on the Meucci..And now he's Playing with mikes cue .. And started to win tournament he just won a fla stop...
