Hey guys I have a pool cue. Meucci ms-1 I am wanting to sell but not sure where to start. Can you guys give me some help? The tip has a crack in it and I am missing the rubber bumper. Other than that it is in good shape. I will post some pictures shortly. Thanks!

Here are some pictures. IF anyone can help me on a starting price that would be awesome! I think I am going to post on Ebay.

Hi-

Welcome to the forum.

Meucci Originals do tend to sell well, but condition is everything. Your tip and ferrule are a bit disastrous. It's not playable. And the shaft is pretty filthy.

Bumpers are cheap.

Would I be correct in assuming you are not really a pool player? Is this cue something you acquired and not your playing cue? I say that because it is unlikely a serious player would put that cheap replacement ferrule on there.

Most of us would want to know a few additional points to address value. What is the tip diameter? The weight of the shaft and butt? And VERY IMPORTANT: Is the cue straight?

Anyway, if you want to sell it "as is" it's more difficult to specify a value because the cue needs work, and not work to be done at home, it needs a cue repairman because of the ferrule.

I usually avoid the value issue, especially on something like this.

These cues get enough attention that the auction will take care of itself if you just run a straight Ebay auction. I would say you are might a couple hundred for it. Maybe start an auction at 100 or 150 or so? But that is a wild guess and very speculative without more information. That shaft and ferrule make the cue look bad. Again, I want to know if it is straight.

You might get offers here as well. But you are new to the community and potential buyers might be cautious. And the cue has condition issues.

I can tell you right now I wouldn't give much for it. I have enough cues that need work.

Agree that it is about $100 cue.

My advice is NOT to spend any money on cue and sell as is.

While you will get more if refinished and repaired, it never is going going to worth much.

At best, totally refinished I would say it is worth $200, and its going to cost more than $100 to get it there.

Just my advice.

Send it to me

I can replace the ferrule, throw on a Ultra Skin tip with a fiber pad, clean and wax the shaft and install a new bumper. .
65.00 bucks you pay for all the shipping, In and out of my shop 72 hrs
and back in the mail to you.

I might be able to clean up the finish a little bit too .

I do clean work.....

:thumbup2:

Start it at 99 cents and it might get up to $250.

The way it sits I would give $150 and that includes the shipping. (as long as the butt rolls straight)

I bet that finish would polish up pretty nice. Most of the little scratches down on the butt cap would be gone or mostly gone and it would still have a little yellowish patina.

Guys you are all awesome! You are correct. I do not play pool. I received this cue for free without a tip about 15 years ago? (guess) I had a friend put the tip on and I played with the cue for a year or two. Then it has been stored up ever since. Is there a way to check the weight? Also, is there a way to check if it is straight other than rolling it and making sure it doesn't wobble? Thanks again!

I think it could be cleaned up if there is nothing major wrong with the cue.

You can sight down the cue like a rifle and roll it in your hands. If it has a bad shaft you will know. Michael

Ok both shaft and butt seems straight to me. I even rolled it on a flat surface. Now as far as figuring out the weigh..Can I just stick it on a small scale? I just looked up a Billiards store in town. Had no idea it was here lol...I am going to give them a call tomorrow. They are closed on Mondays. I will update after. But while we wait, is there anyone interested in the cue?

Easy- Use a postal scale. If you don't have one, go to the post office and weigh it. Weigh the butt and shaft separately.

Many of us have digital postal scales for weighing cues and cue parts.

If there is billiards store in town they may have a repairman that can put a proper ferrule and tip on. They may weigh it for you as well. They may also know a buyer.

It also looks like you have statements of interest in this thread.

I'm interested in the cue...but don't let any so called Billiard Store touch it.

I'd rather have it the way it sits and fix it right myself with real a real Meucci Originals ferrule.

You have someone else fix it and the shaft will end up a quarter inch short.:frown:
