Meucci or Pechauer?

Hey guys, new member here. I have been playing pool since 2005, and have been using a Viking since 2007. My tastes have since changed, and I find myself gravitating towards LD-shaft cues after trying a couple.

I have narrowed it down to a Pechauer P06 with a predator 314 shaft, and a Meucci HOF-3 with a blackdot shaft. Any opinions (especially first hand) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well, my last 2 cues were almost exactly what you are asking about here.

I played with the Meucci for a number of years and it was very nice. But about 2 years ago I got me a nice Pechauer with Predator Shaft and have never looked back. It hits amazing and with a Kamui Tip I can't see using anything else.

Good Luck!

Meucci quality is not very good. Pechauer quality is tops.
I would take a Meucci for free but if I had to spend my money it would be Pechauer all the way given these two choices.

Resell on a Pechauer or Meucci is a joke. What you're really comparing is the shaft. And hands down the Predator shaft is way better than a black dot. Try a predator shaft on the Viking butt you currently have and you probably won't be disappointed. The butt of a cue won't change your game. If the hit is funny because of a bad joint or because you like a wood to wood hit that is different. But Vikings hit pretty solid for the money and you're not using the factory shaft anyway. So for my money unless you're a collector, and then you wouldn't buy the Meucci or Pechauer either, I'd just screw a Predator or OB Classic on the Viking.

Pechauers are well made stiff hitting cues with some of the best quality shaft wood you can find. Although that's rather moot with a predator shaft.

Meuccis are a soft hit and with often quite flexible shafts. Sometimes you can find a good one, but it's the exception.

Also PM sent.

I 100 percent agree with this, but I am not a very big fan of my Viking aesthetically anymore. I figured if I was going to spend 200+ on a shaft, I might as well buy another cue.

Great responses so far, thanks guys

Vikings are good sticks, why not just get a Predator shaft for the stick you currently have, unless you want to switch do a different joint or cue look.

Pechauer....with or without the Predator shaft I think the decision is a no-brainer. The above posts seem to support that.

That was my thought and I bought one recently, really liked the hit,( until after reading your posts about Joss,) I tried a Joss,

Now I've got a Joss and Pechauer:thumbup:

Pechauer may be for sale soon;)

So, THANX CHOPDOC

I used a 314-2 on a Peach for about a year - it's a nice combination, but I'd recommend a Predator cue all day long. The butt makes a difference, no matter what anyone says.

Easy choice.

I keep borrowing and hitting balls with
my friends new Pechauer.

I never borrow my other friends Meucci.

I think you ought to broaden your horizons and take a look at your budget, then take that budget and examine all cues in that price range. I have owned both meucci and pechauer cues. Im no pro, but i thoroughly enjoy the game and I shoot with tnt customs or bhq customs that play twice as nice as my pechauer with either ob1 or p314 2

I've owned several old meucci sticks, back when they were quality made. I also owned a viking. I currently own a peach with an OB1 shaft. The peach is hands down the best looking and playing stick Ive ever owned!!!!

I wouldn’t suggest a meucci to anyone. I have a few friends that have them with the black dot shaft and they both have a small crack at the ring and are warped. The hit and feel of the meucci is much like a low end cue in my own option with a high end price tag. I have hit a little with my friends Jp and it has a nice good stiff hit, and most of them have the steel joints where meuccis as a wood joint.
