I have an older Meucci original that Paul Drexler put a new exposed linen wrap on years ago. It's a black linen with white. It's been in its case in my closet for years, probably 15 or more. I just took a look at it. The butt is in very good shape but the shaft wasn't perfect, it has a slight warp. I'm curious if any of you folks into older cues has any idea what it may be worth. I don't know the number on it, but it looks a lot like this one.

One shaft hurts value, and it being warped makes it a real tough sell.

You cant hardly do anything that would help value, and come out ahead. If you buy two new shafts, your cost would be another 200-300 and you still would have a 2-300 cue.

My advice is ebay it.

It was probably worth about 200 to 300 new, but since it has "Meucci" written on it now, it's probably worth about half of that.

If it were a Joss, Schon or even a McDermott, then it would have increased in value.

Just my humble opinion......

IMO about $250-300 when new with one shaft. But with that one shaft being warped that price would drop another $150 due to having to buy a new shaft. Aftermarket shafts can be had for $150-$200 ish I am not sure what a new shaft from Meucci would run. My guess is around the same as a afteramarket.

Oh and not to mention if a collector wanted it it's not worth much to them becuase the wrap has been changed.

Yours looks like it was made in the later 1980's. (most had the flat rubber bumper, not the rounded one as shown in the picture). The go pretty steadily for around $250 - $300. The old logo Meucci's have some collector following - it's just that there were a lot made and they come up for sale quite a bit. This was one of Meucci's most popular designs.

As you can see from the comments, over time Meucci has fallen out of favor because of reliability and service issues. These older ones seem to fare better than the newer ones.

A lot of people got started in cue collecting by collecting Meucci's.

I went to Meucci.com and answered my own question. Originals were made from the 1970's to early 1990's. It appears they no longer offer a Sneaky Pete as a production model. I am sure they would make one as a custom.

IMHO Meucci Original was a good Cue at the time. I have always liked the Hit of Mine. But it is no longer my daily player.

I'm not a cue collector and wouldn't in my wildest dreams pay more than 200 or 300 bucks for a cue stick. I'd be more than happy getting that much for this stick. Thanks all that helped.

For those who love bashing Meucci's .... LOL have at it cause it makes no difference to me. The other stick I have is a Meucci also. I use it cause I like the no wrap feel. The shaft on it is a 50 dollar Carlscue shaft from ebay that I extend the taper on myself and its fine.

I put a Triangle tip on it for 3 bucks I think and that's fine too. No 40 layer BSh@# tip for 20 bucks. Do they come with a sign that you put on your forehead saying sucker?

Anyway, my crumby stick still can run 40s and 50s with this 58yr old weekend warrior at the other end of it. I doubt spending another extra "G" note on a Fancy Dan stick would help much.

All that fancy sh$% is just that. It does nothing for playing. Some folks play and some folks like to lay their stick out on the table so people can ooh and aahh it. That's fine too, just not my cup of tea.

Well said, the only thing that the expensive tip and a nicer shaft can really do is make you more consistent. The eyes and stroke arent going to change due shafts/tips. That being said I use a layered tip and love it.

I have absolutely no doubt that I'd love a layered tip as well. The point is, any good quality tip is fine.

For my money, why pay 20 bucks for something that I can buy for 2 or 3 bucks, and why reinvent the wheel one spoke at a time, hand made, when I can buy one mass produced that does the exact same thing for a tiny fraction of the price unless I need to spend extra money to say I have something unique. Nothing wrong with that, but not for me.

With 1 warped shaft you're basically selling a cue butt and if you could get $200-$300 you'd be doing very well for an old Meucci that isn't one of the more sought after models......

Be that as it may be, it is true that your cue does not hold much market value with a warped shaft. But ,the exposed wrap does not hurt it. It is a good looking stick and some people prefer that wrap. With an after market shaft , including installing the original shaft collar to the new shaft,(cheap)
you have a damn nice stick MOST shooters would be proud to use.

The excesses in my language were meant to cause a giggle as I know yours were also. I've used Meuccis for a long time and never had a problem with a ferrule. The cracks I experience are in my game and not my equipment.:wink:
