Meucci SE-10 One-of-a-Kind Prototypes Auction

I'm selling 3 one-of-a-kind SE-10s. Two of them are the originals that are pictured in all of the brocures and promotional materials. The third is a first prototype that was re-designed.

http://www.anti-relativity.com/auction/se10sale.html

My name is Bobby Meucci, son of Bob Meucci. I'm the original designer of this cue. I worked for Meucci for many years but have not been involved in any way for around the past decade. Unfortunately, I have fibromyalgia and my disability and subsequent finantial ruin has left me with no choice but to sell my only souvenirs from the company in hopes to support myself during the lengthy disability process.

My email address is on the page listed above and I will be taking interested party's information to update them on the sale. Private bids are welcome. If bidding proves insufficient, I will post the cues on ebay to continue the auction.

Thanks for your interest.

I'D BE INTERESTED IN THE PROTOTYPE, BUT I DON'T MAKE OFFERS ON CUES. IF INTERESTED IN A SALE, PLEASE PM ME A PRICE FOR THE CUE.

That would be me that was looking for it...interesting, one of them is #600? yet they were "supposed" to be limited to 500 cues. The highest # I've seen (until now) is #489 (an Ivory.)

BTW, the links on the site to the eBay auction don't work.

THEY WERE ILSTED QUITE SOME TIME AGO, THEY DIDN'T SELL AT THAT POINT. THEY WERE ALSO LISTED FOR SALE ON THE MEUCCI WEBSITE.

THERE WERE LESS THAN 500 MADE, THE NUMBERS ON THESE DON'T REFLECT HOW MANY WERE MADE. THEY WERE PROTOTYPES.

I have had a ton of the older meuccis and the se10 for awhile was one that everyone had to have, i do rememebr these on ebay awhile back and the price was way out of line! They are gorgeous cues but just not the kind of money the custom cues are worth imho! so why isnt bob jr with meucci anymore? at all?
and just my opinion but i think when meucci went to the cheaper japan line of cues" the medici" his cues and designs went down the drain

The price was high because these are one-of-a-kind. I still am not going to sell them dirt cheap. There was a time when certian numbers went for 5k a piece. Back when I auctioned them the first time I figued they were worth at least what I knew others had sold for. When they didn't sell I decided to keep them. Theoretically the price on collector items like this is supposed to go up but I guess the whole industry has lost some luster.

Regardless I'll be putting them up on ebay with a reasonable reserve very soon. The fella above is correct that the numbers are not indicative of anything. They were some left-over numbers from some other cue line that we grabbed for the prototypes. That's part of why they are red. If you have a copy of any brochure pics you'll see they are red 599 and 600 there too.

The highest numbers seen do not reflect how many were made either. Some customers requested special numbers and were given those numbers. I'd guess that the white #489 that you saw was one of those. I'm pretty sure there were no more than about 300 made of each if I'm remembering correctly. I think I remember that near the end of the run, the numbering got fubared because they started just pulling them randomly, so that could be a reason for a high number too. I'd have to ask Rock what he remembers though.

They got cancelled once they started selling like crazy. Bob decided they were too expensive to make and he couldn't change the price.

In the event I am seeing the auctions correctly, they do not end in an hour, they end in just under 2 days.

Good luck.

Will

Wow..."starting bids" of $1,499, $1,499, and $1,599, and "reserve not met"? Something tells me those will end with zero bids. I did a search on eBay, and the last one for a Meucci SE-10 I see is for a matched set of them, #018, and received no bids for the starting offer of $2,000 for both cues. I realize these are "prototypes signed by Bob Meucci Jr.", but if a matched set of them don't go for $2,000 ($1,000 each), something tells me that a prototype isn't going to go for 50%+ more. :shakehead:

Good luck selling them.

Thanks for your concern but I've already had offers via email for more than the current starting price. Thank god these are going to sell! I've removed the reserve.

First, these are one-of-a-kind in like a million ways. They are the first. They are the ones actually pictured in all the brochures. And they are the only ones I signed other than one other I rememeber for a friend. They are the most collectible of the most collectible Meucci cues. Bragging rights abound.

The auction you saw probably sold behind the scenes. Also, cue buyers, many times, are like people in a bazaar. They've seen and try all the tricks. Such as not bidding and trying to undercut when the auction is over. (they did that to me last time) It's as if pool players have experienced being hustled before or fancy themselves a husler. Imagine that...

Hey, I grew up around all the classic greats in pool. I think I was the most entertained by a hustle story David Howard told when I was little. Mike Massey got me interested in magic. It's not like I hold it against people for trying to get the best deal they can or look down on them. Back then and even today, the talented atheletes and entertainers of pool still aren't getting a fair shake and they deserve more. I just don't personally believe in hustling.

Also somehow I think I lost my mind for a moment on my last post. The cues don't end till tomorrow.

As I suspected....ONE out of the three sold, and that one received a grand total of ONE bid, for the starting $1,699 (which, IMO, is way over-priced, signed prototype or not.)

Thought it was interesting from the Q&A:

Question & Answer Answered On

Q: i was considering bidding on your cue but you have changed the price by$600 and im sure the reserve too ,in this dead market where nobody is willing to pay the true value of something and cues arent making their value, im a little dissapointed,i know what your cue is and recognise that of course you want to get the best price but to such a significant raise now leaves me unsure.thanks

A: Actually I left the reserve in place... I realized that the difference between reserve and starting was too great.... perhaps I should just take off the reserve... thanks for letting me know how people might see it. Sorry if it frustrated you. I just literally have 1000 dollars to my name in total, and fibromyalgia. I can no longer work from daily agony and all my resources are gone, I just have to make sure I do this right or I don't have food and shelter. I wasn't even envited to thanksgiving, so, if you're thinking I should have family that will help, that's incorrect. Since I don't know if this will get around I'll just let it stand open that it could somehow be all my fault. I really can't take any more disownment.
Really makes me wonder WTH happened, that a family would disown someone like that...

I personally would like to know the story behind that.....BUT...I wouldnt ever ask.....Not sure what the circumstances are behind being disowned...but, I have a cousin that is pretty much shunned...and he is absolutely miserable in life.....Man..family is all we have and if we dont have our family, well, that would just suck. Brother...no matter what your problems are, just know that I am praying for you this holiday season!

I agree.... Family is everything. Many of my family members have done some stupid things but we all know we can count on each other. We were born a family and we'll die a family and thats just how it is.

Unfortunately for Bobby I think whats hurting his sale the most is the Meucci name. Its no secret that the quality of Meucci cues have gone down the toilet. The last 8 NEW cues I saw at my place were all terrible looking. You could see filler in every cue, feel ALL of the inlays thru the finish and all but 1 of the shafts either arrived warped or warped before being sold. I wish Bobby all the luck with selling these cues but their reputation is so tarnished that I doubt he'll ever get what he's asking for them.

Good luck Bobby, I'll keep you in my prayers.

Dave
