Mezz cues are fantastic

BTW, i'm going to get a CP-13SW as soon as the curly-maple version is back in stock. Best production cues by a mile.

The tulip wood looks great in the pictures as well. I wonder if it is as striking in real life...
but then again the black and white juma wood is cool looking as well!

Gonna stop by the Mezz booth at the SBE next month & try out there different shafts on a sneaky I have. Heard nothing but good things about there cues & shafts.

Sold - I'm going to order a Mezz SP series model on Monday from my Seyberts rep, with a 2-inch butt extension, as I use a 2-inch longer cue. If I don't like it, I'm sure I won't have a problem selling it, but I'm thinking I'll like it, based on what I've read here. Do you think a 2-inch extension screwed in to the butt of the cue will in any way affect the feel of the hit? I'll report back in roughly a week with my feedback on this cue.

It’s very neat how the extension screws on. Very easy and fits perfectly. I may order one later once the cue gets here.

If anyone wants a great cue without breaking the bank then this cue is it.

Ok, you guys have me researching Mezz Cues now. I have too many cues as it is, but now I’m sold.
Question, will the United Joint fit on a standard 5/16 14 pin, such as a joss or Schon?

Just ordered me another spare EX pro shaft for my exceed cue. Better grab my new mezz axi guys I have up for sale. Nobody buys it be my back up cue.

best in the world outside REVO, light years ahead of any custom

I suspect, becue is better also

times change,

although if you're a die hard wood guy then Mezz remains the best

That's not true and u know it I haven't seen any records broke with
any of these light year ahead shafts yet.
Truth is what ever u practice with day in an day out you'll play good with it
no matter if it's a long cue or short cue or revo or LD shaft or just good plain maple shaft.

I watched Nick Varner play with a 80's joss cue old maple shaft and guess what didn't miss a ball for hours.

I thought you were done posting here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re back, but you mad a post about never posting again. That was you, right?

I said it, and I meant it at the time. It looks like it's easier to quit playing than posting here, though;)

Well, I'm no fan of extensions. I used to play a lot of snooker, and I had a very good snooker cue with extensions that were high quality. I never used them unless they were needed even though I played on a 6*12. I also had a very good custom made extension for my Mezz. Used it on stretch shots and only on those. All extensions change the way the cue feels. I've never tried one that didnt'. You may of course LIKE that the hit changes, I just happen NOT to like it. The smallest Mezz extension does change the feel only minimally, but still noticably to me.

For a period of time all the pool junkies at my pool hall had extensions full time on their cues. Now almost all have taken them off. The ones that kept them are either very tall, or only have a very short extension. The best players all took them off. IMO it's a fad that will go away.

I am 6'5" and have always played with a 2-inch extra long custom cue - 1" extra long butt and shaft. Since it doesn't look like I'll be able to get a 30" Mezz shaft anytime soon, my only option would be the 2" Exceed extension to put on the back of the cue. My grip hand won't be holding the last 2 inches on that many shots, but sometimes the last few fingers will likely be on the extension. I can't imagine it's going to change the feel of the cue substantially, but we'll see.

Any player can play with any cue but the customs are pretty much out of date equipment besides the fancy artwork and materials.

Customs are one of one pieces and lets not pretend like certain makers can consistently produce the same hit when a production company is more likely to do so due to high production. They basically mastered a certain model.

Now not all production cues are up to par with customs and not all customs are up to par with production but when we're talking about Mezz and their quality control and technology....they are superior to a lot of customs.

Alpha vs Vantage

Anyone happen to know how the Hybrid Alpha compares to the Vantage shaft? I'd like a 12.8-13mm diameter LD with quality wood :)

There are a couple reasons to buy a custom in my mind, and performance ain't one of them.
a) the artistry of certain makers (Investment opportunity)
b) To get a cue EXACTLY how you want, materials, inlays, specs, etc.
c)Nostalgia or preference for a certain feel or hit of a cue
d)Some folks just like having unique things.

Computer software can create images that are much more visually appealing than the mona lisa...but they ain't hanging them up in museums any time soon.
