Mezz shaft warpage question?

A good friend of mine bought a Mezz a few years back. The shaft was taken care of and played very lightly. The shaft has developed a warp.
Wasn't re-tapered or tampered with.

Does Mezz offer a replacement policy for warpage on shafts?

Any Mezz dealers or Mezz people on here that might know?

thanks for the help.

most companies only have limited warranties on shafts. since you indicated your cue and shaft is from a few year's back i'm assuming the warranty's expired.

i think most companies only offer a limited warranty because people do funny things with their equipment which can cause a shaft to warp. (Store it in the trunk of thier car, etc.) i'm not saying that's what you did but they won't be able to know the legit claims against people who've abused their equipment and are just trying to get a free replacement.

Best bet's to look for another shaft in the for sale section.

Mezz is one year.

Don't be bummed though, I just bought a new production cue from a company in December that manufactures their own popular LD shaft that is well advertised on this site and it's going back for the second time in 6 weeks for warpage.

I own a Mezz with a WD700 shaft and it was straight as an arrow out of the box, plays superbly.

Thanks guys. Emailed mezz to double check. will call them tomorrow also.

Does anyone have an idea of what the shaft might actually be worth?
It looks to me that it has 2mm of roll in the center of the shaft.

Thanks again.

i wouldn't call 2mm a warp. most pro tapered shafts have about that much difference in them when they're older.

best playing cue i ever had in my life had a minimum of that much bow in it when rolled. it sold for 1200

It is not difficult to make a shaft straight agian. Many times it will stay straight after the adjustment.

I looked at it a little closer at the pool hall today.
It appears to be bent in 2 places.
Bowed pretty bad in the middle, and just a few inches short of the ferrule.
It's been over a year since the cue was purchased, so possibly just going to buy another shaft.

All shafts have the ability to warp. It's wood and regardless of how stable you believe the wood to be. Things like that just happen.

I had a Tim Scruggs sneaky pete that was the straightest cue I've ever seen in person. It was from the 90s and the entire cue was straight as an arrow. A very lucky shaft to be so straight.

On the flip side I've seen predator and mezz shafts that have slight warpage issues. Regardless the only other shaft that I can see prevent any warping are those that have a core in the center of the shaft.

Mezz Hybrid Pro II and Cuetec R360 are shafts with a carborn fiber core. It would be difficult to believe that the core would change for any reason.

Also some woods that have been treated with a wood hardener or wood stabilizer could possibly prevent this from occurring. Nelsonite is a compound that cuemakers use. Please refer to an expert cuemaker to confirm.
