Just wanted to post the website for one of the best pool halls in ohio for anyone who doesnt know about it or is passing through the Cincinnati area.

www.michaelsbilliards.com

Very nice place, well taken care of. Plenty of 9 foot diamonds and a good selection of bar tables. If you havent been, by all means pay it a visit.

One of my favorite places. I used to go there when I was a teenager and the room was upstairs. Great players room.

Northwest High School Class of '91. Grew up around the Fairfield/Forrest Park/ Colerain areas. Started playing at a little place called K&L Billiards off Kemper Rd. and Colerain Billiards down the road from Northgate Mall. I left Cincy in 91 came back from 95-97 and have only been back a couple times since. I learned a lot in those rooms.

Cool, Franklin High School, just north of Middletown, Class of '89. Left and went back from 96-98, then came back to the desert. Much nicer weather.

I hope

I am relocating to the Cincy area. I took a position for a company that is relocating its corporate offices to Blue Ash. They are providing me an apartment in the West Chester area, as that is probably where I will eventually buy a house. The housing is pretty reasonable, but the taxes seem a tad higher than were I am from in Indiana.

I will be there the week of June 29 for a week moving in my apartment, and office. I will be looking for help finding places to play and people to play.

Thanks

Ken

West Chester is a nice area. It's developing very quickly. Give me a call if you find a table you need set up. That's right in my service area. Good luck with the move!

West Chester is a good area. An Ikea just opened if your decorating you apt. :) Ahh... I hate Ikea. Just got a new apt. in the Cinci area, and all my GF wants to do is go furniture shopping at ikea.

Michael's is a good place to play. From noon to 6 its play all you want for 8 bucks. I think you can do the 6 hour special for 15, I haven't looked at their website yet so I'm not 100% on the summer specials. Alternating 8 and 9 ball tournaments each sunday, 6 dollar entry fee, played on 8 foot tables. Dick Neighbors frequents there, who does exceptional repair work and is a great cuemaker(haven't tried one of his cues yet tho.)

Jack's in Middletown isn't too bad either. I actually like shooting there more now that the humidities rising. There's Western Bowl in Cheviot who has a bunch of gold crowns and one diamond... tho the tables are pretty used. Western Bowl does have all you can play from 9-6 for 6 bucks tues-thurs(mon.-thurs. when its not summer.) There's a few places I hit up in Covington too. Haven't really tried the Dayton scene.

One of my favorite places to shoot is in Hillsborough, OH which is Royal Family Billiards. Richard Harris frequents there. Only have a few 9 footers, but they play mighty purdy... and there's some good one pocket played there if you look around.

If you need any advice/directions about the area shoot me a pm. My occupation requires lots of travel, but I've lived in the Southern Ohio region(both western and eastern halves)

You will like it, Blue Ash is a nice area. And michaels is open until 4 on weeknights and 24 hours on weekends, so you will always be able to find time to play. Great selection of diamonds and a 3 cushion table is coming up any day now.

Welcome to Cincy!

Ken,
An advanced welcome to the area. I'm on the southeast part of Cincy, a stones throw from the river. I don't get out much anymore but I have a tight ass 9' Gold Crown in my shop and would welcome you over for a little one pocket. If you need any cue work, I'll be glad to take care of it for you too.

Royal Family in Hillsboro (not Hillsborough) is closed...Been so for about a month.

In a few months another joint might open near Hillsboro that is a little closer to Richard's house so he'll probably be there from time to time! You didn't hear it from me thought!:)

If you were around Michaels from 95-97, you seen some good action..... I really hated it when Mike moved to the newer spot because the upstairs room was so perfect! Durb sleeping on the bench or under a table, Mikes wifes BBQ sandwiches, Bucky telling stories and jawing at people, plenty of people sending it in... It was about as close to heaven as you could get in a poolroom!
