4 - Josh Franklin
5/6 - Louis DeMarco/Dennis Hatch. There was $38,550 in the calcutta before they took their 10%. First in the calcutta paid $11,000.

McMinn broke and ran about 70% the last three matches.

$3800 pretty good payday for a weekends work...or was that the added money :woot:
Did McMinn win? Would be interesting if they made it winner breaks or alternate break at least...you could literally win that tournament and never break once :rotflmao1:

Hi Horse,

Yes, McMinn won. Once again Justin came apart in the finals. Missed several very make-able shots in critical situations. Both guys were giving up racks very early. Sometimes on the six ball. That situation should not happen. Can imagine if I had Justin in the auction, I'd be pissed. Make the guy shoot out!

Really you can not win that event without breaking. You will always be one rack behind. I do however understand your point. On this equipment, with winner breaking, either of those guys could break and run the entire set. Alternate breaks might, might be a better solution. Interested in your opinion.

The reason I say is because I just watched the Rum Runner tournament in Vegas and the commentators were discussing the same thing. I know why they do the loser breaks, to fill in 75% of the field. The Midwest tournament is a long running dandy and even though you see basically the same clientele in the final 16 every year it doesnt hurt the turnout because of the format. Ive missed the last couple tournaments and havent been to John Waynes in a minute, but its nice to see the tournament is still going after it changed hands. Winner break is for the upper tier players and spectators, loser break is to pad the calcutta and tourny side payout....hahaha JK

They have nice equipment well maintained the tournament was well run. However
the bathroooms are in the worst possible spot in the place and it's like playing in the
middle of a carnival
