Mika's interesting shot

Looks like what I'd call a firm shot, not exactly soft.

Pretty nice jab...one a side note, how does one get a video to start at a specific point? I posted one the other day but it always starts at the beginning.

He short-stroked it, so as to avoid a double-hit, though it most definitely was not a soft hit.

Not soft, firm like stated above. Mika, of course, has a much better then average stroke though.

I'm not a good player but I hit that ball with a high inside and level stroke. If you don't use a level stroke the cue ball tends to jump and you lose the spin and don't get the motorized cue ball effect.

If you've watched Immonen play 14.1 you see his cue ball sometimes going into clusters like that. Mizerak got even more spin on the cue ball. His cue ball would actually pause for a split second and then slam into a cluster. Not sure if he hit it differently or if different cloth "gripped" the cue ball more.

You could be right about the cloth. Most of the Miz's great play was on nappy, directional Stevens/Mali type cloth.

If you can't find or don't have the "Start at" option when you select to share the video, simply copy and paste the video link then add a time to it like so: ?t=125s, or ?t=2m5s

It can be in seconds or minutes and seconds.

All these videos always start at the beginning for me and I never get to see the shot. Wish more savvy people would comment what time the shot was or provide a link that starts where the shot is

I was watching this match, Mika vs Biado.

There is a shot that Mika plays, force follow 3 rails position, where he hits it so soft, yet the cue ball just flies off. How did he produce so much spin while hitting the ball so soft??

Obviously, his pool talent has nothing to do with it. If you've been following another thread here, it's all because he uses a Mezz cue.

I once saw Mizerak's cueball hop into the cluster, spin around in a circle contacting each ball, stop, do a pirouette, then take a bow.

The shot is at 28:15.

Momentary stall on the cue ball with lots of spin. Mika plays lots of 3 cushion. You can use that stroke to change angle and get the cue ball to behave in a wild way, still predictable.
