Mike Dechaine Stopped by for a new tip

Did he give out any tips on how to cheat when racking or how to manipulate the rack after the racker has walked away?

If you truly want to know the answer to this question, all you have to do is watch AND pay attention to Joe Tuckers "racking secrets" video!

After watching the video,,,, watch Mike! It's as simple as that;)

I have to throw this out there because I'm a wise guy. Defacing US currency is against the law and a felony. I'm just saying.

I know you aren't serious, but the law actually only covers defacing to the point that the currency is no longer recognizable or adding advertising. This is perfectly legal.

Hey, any way a person can take money from Dechaine....because it's damned hard to do playing pool. ;)

Put it a different way. SVB goes in to a car dealership and buys a car from a fan and they take a photo of the guy handing him the keys. Comes here and tell everyone what he bought, how much he paid and whether his credit rating came back clean.

Overstated sure. Same principle. Lighten up kids it's not your right to know.

Nah man, this is different. Your hypothetical situation had nothing to do with pool. This is a story about a professional pool player, buying something pool-related, being told to pool fans, on a pool forum. Not unreasonable to want to know what kind of tip he got.

I know that I certainly don't care what type of tip he got, I've learned all I need to know about this guy.

Don't blame the OP one bit for protecting his customer's privacy.

That being said, it is just human nature for the curiosity of what tip he uses.

Oscar D. said last week on the stream from his tour that Mike, John Morra and Alex P. all use Zan tips. He said Alex has bought them 40 at a time from him.

I use the Zan Premium Soft, and love it!

Would like to know which Zan tip the pro players prefer. If I had to guess, it would either be the Hybrid Max or the Grip Hard?

Enjoy your signed bill, JT. We'd all love to have that on wall.

I know it's not the same and pretty much stated as such. The point is he doesn't have to share and we shouldn't make a big deal out of it.

I agree on both counts, but your analogy was too far off base to ignore.

God, this is so dumb. You don't give out customer information without permission ever...period. It's not my place to decide what info a customer wants to give out. I realize not everyone is in business for themselves, but this is just an unwritten rule that most of us just strictly follow. Stupid or not, it goes with the territory.

While possibly being overprotective of the seemingly benign info, I respect that decision. The man doesnt know if Mike would be ok with people knowing, and he is erring on the side of caution. Nothing wrong with that. ;)

Congrats on installing a mystery tip for Dechaine....

I agree. He could be sponsored by a company whose products he isn't using when not in a tournament or he isn't being sponsored so why endorse them.

🎱

Very cool, that would be a great surprise. Have a table handy to see some cool shots when he was there? That guy can juice up the cue ball!

Cool experience for the OP, who clearly deserves to still be in business after 35 years and proved here that he's capable of maintaining respectful professional discretion.

Kudos to you and to MD, you both handled this thread with class.

Unlike many.

Pool players are a tough crowd as it is..., get them hiding behind screen names and it obviously get exponentially worse.

The $20

Hey, any way a person can take money from Dechaine....because it's damned hard to do playing pool. ;)

After Mike signed the $20 and gave it to me as payment for my services, I then reached into my pocket took out a $20 Bill and tried to give it to him, I really did not want anything for my services, I just wanted something for my collection , But Mike being a stand up guy would not accept the $20 I tried to give him. Unlike many I don't do this for the money. I'm 53 and have been retired for 5 years now, I spend a few months each year in the Philippines where I own a home and also do some repais there as well, For me it's just all for the fun of it, That's all.

Respect

Like Vegas.. What goes on at the cue repairman's shop stays in the cue repairman's shop.

-Kat,

Mike was here in Oregon back in March and had a Zen Hybrid tip installed. One of the top level players here use one and recommended it to Mike. Mike did say he liked the hit.
