Mike Dechaine

By most accounts Mike Dechaine is a world champ.
Or "world class chump" if you watch his immature behavior

He ought to go back to Mike "The Pain" Dechaine.... The nickname his peers gave him not one he made up himself

Without woofing there wouldnt be any action! Its part of it and always has been. Im not sure what pool rooms some of these people played in but Im guessing it was after the 90s. You couldnt walk into a pool room without 3 different people woofing at you and it didnt matter what time it was.

Sooo many haters up in here.

I love watching all of you go at him when you all know he could probably wipe the floor with you. Keep on mashing at your keyboards internet warriors....

In other news- Mike, you should look up Richie Ross at Ivory Billiards. I know the other guy didn't even give you a run for your money but he doesn't hold a candle to Richie.

I don't know if he likes action though cause I've never seen anyone want to bet against him.

I love that we act like this guy, or that guy is "bad for pool." Tiger must be terrible for golf too, Johny Mac was HORRIBLE for tennis. Controversy breeds interest plain and simple! The two biggest promoters for pool were the movies The Hustler, and The Color of Money, and those REALLY high light the good things about pool...

Mike D. can be a real ass some times. So can any one else. Get off his nuts. At least he's out here trying to make a game. I've never seen one boxer talk some smack to another to try and get him fired up, and into a bad spot for a fight...

This whole discussion of what's "Good" for pool is such horse shit. Like half the people that talk about it even know. I'm sure every one on the internet is a marketing guru. They know for a fact, what's going to put butts in seats at pool events...

end of rant.

best,

Justin

Best post of thread.

I read the fb posts and thought they were actually pretty mild for woofing and they got the job done. You should see really loud, obnoxious insulting woofing like Jimmy Mataya or Deathball or Scooter. That kind of woofing gives what MD did on facebook the 5 out easy.

Best post of thread.

I second that !!!

Dennis..... you need to post one more time and get your post count off that 666,LOL.

Sure we have all heard of Mike acting out a little, but all this stuff about him dogging balls and all that shit is stupid. Show me one person on this forum that has never dogged a shot. Facts of the matter is this, it doesn't matter if you like him or not, 99% of us (me included) can't beat him and won't play him. So give the guy a break for trying to get some action.

We've seen pros woof at each other. Frost does it, Alex and Shane do it... plenty of people do it. It's whatever. It happens. But what makes it different is where it's coming from. Mike has a history of having a nasty attitude, and whether he likes it or not, he's taken on a leadership role and is now an ambassador of the sport. I'm not on internet videos playing against the best players in the world, or in magazine articles. How many people have been turned away from the game because of unsportsmanlike conduct? It's one thing to joke among your peers when people know you're joking, it's another to build a reputation of being a pr-ck, then trying to talk sh-t to someone. You become "that guy". Nothing personal against Mike, that's just my 2 pennies.

Comparisons can be drawn to Earl, but when he flies off the handle, it's entertaining. People just can't take their eyes off the car crash. When you're a d-ck, people just say "wow, what a d-ck".

Everybody has their moments at this game.
I'm known as pretty cool when I compete...but I missed a shot once at my
favorite pool hall....I was playing on table one....I swear I set my cue
down on table two.....it landed on table three..

Here's one you would expect....

When you're in the public domain, all your weaknesses become visible.
Hang in there, Mike

NO.

They say, "Wow, what a dick? I can't wait to watch Shane, or Alex, or Johny, etc, beat his ass!"

He does just as much for the sport or more than Shane does. People want to root AGAINST someone just as bad as the want to root FOR someone. Drama breeds interest, plain and simple.

I don't mean to be a dick, but get over it. You sound like a winer with the two posts you made above. Mike does this and that, and it's just not right. It hurts peoples feelings, and it's bad for the sport, and it's BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

Just like with Earl, LET IT GO!!!

All this talk about Mike, Earl, and what's "good" for pool is a JOKE!

I dunno, like... three?

Check out Hanso's post. People woofing, being jerks, flipping out, dumping, cheating, etc... doesn't cause anyone to quit playing.

How much interest was generated in the 1991 challenge of Challenge of Champions because it was rumored some players dumped? Zero people were interested in watching that old footage until it was rumored someone dumped.

The rest of what you said, I can get behind.

Once someone's a pro, on the mosconi cup, in the public eye... they probably should tone it down. They can still match up, but bush-league style woofing where you call someone out publicly hoping to embarrass them into a game they don't like... that's for amateurs, not for guys who aspire to be household names and get on TV.

And what you guys don't know is, we've been talking about this game for two months. I am just pushing it along.

What you're doing is your business, you don't need to explain yourself to anyone. Some people are going to criticize you no matter what you do. I've seen people post way worse than that on Facebook.

I like public woofing as apposed to private woofing. Calling someone out to play a match and calling them a dog is the nutz!! Mohammad Ali made a living on telling the public what he was going to do to his apponents. He would even tell the public how ugly they were and how weak they were!! How is pool going to get popular if players woof at each other privately? I think Shaw should woof back and then put up 20k and tell Deshane to get in the box and lets go fire this thing up. This is how excitement is created in promoting a match. Boxers do full promotional tours and woof at each other in the press in many different cities to promote their fights. The sport of boxing wasn't ruined because of the woofing, but it did create major excitement leading up to the match and the arena is always packed the night of the fight, with people watching world wide. Nobody wants to hear a kind gentlemanly calling out to someone when it comes to a huge gambling pool match.......Get this thing in the ring and go!!! A lot of people want to see this match. Shaw has a lot of new fans and I am sure they would like to see him in the box with a player on Deshane's level to see his CASH heart!!!

Deathball has been down at Buffalo Billiards in Metiairie, LA and quiet as quiet can be, FWIW.

You make a good point about Jayson Shaw getting some exposure.

I think in this day in age everybody (except maybe the elderly) should be using FB. Its just boggling that there are people out there that use the internet every day and do not use FB. Its by far the fastest way of communication in this day and age.
