Just saw this on MD's Facebook updates. Idk if its a pisstake or if he is really serious about this. Personally I think he likes to stir the pot but if he is posting this on his FB wall he doesn't care if it ends up on here....

Sorry Mike

Mike Dechaine
Here you go boys and girls. Here are some notes on my iPhone about the break. Let's see of you can figure it out! Lol.

Breaking notes

9 BALL

#1. leave the 1 or corner (either top or bottom side) off with the back ball. The L must still be frozen. Also the very back ball has to be frozen to the opposite side.

#2. Make sure the balls are completely frozen maybe leaving the back ball off a hair. Draw the cue ball three rails. When breaking, bring the cue ball about an inch closer to the spot.
- This can also be D M break.

10 BALL

#1. Rack the same way the you do but
- both the corner balls MUST be touching.
- also try to get the balls behind the 10 frozen to the 10.
- leaving the 1 ball loose will cause the second ball to shoot high
- LEARN THE CROSS OVER BREAK!!!!

What does that mean, whats a L in a rack?

I think he means the row of balls at the edge of the rack starting from the second ball to the back ball. Those 4 should be touching. Actually if you look at Joe Tuckers racking video, as long as the one ball is touching one of the balls behind it, and the other balls are tight along the edge, you can get a good result from a break.

All balls should be touching/frozen. My understanding is that purposely racking any other way is cheating. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Many tables and/or ball sets are so old and worn that its not always easy to get them all frozen. Still others might want to wait 5 minutes or more to get them all frozen.

Mike and the other pro's probly don't run into this as much as the rest of us do.

Unfortunately, this is how I see things. I don't want to spend all night trying to get a completely touching rack, since on a lot of tables it isn't even possible. I will do my best to give a good rack, will make sure that they can get a decent spread, but I will not be giving away a free game because of crappy conditions. Until rules prevent the bottom corners from giving away an easy 9b game, that's how it's going to be if I can't get a perfect rack on the table.

On purpose, yes, it's wrong, bad, etc...

But if it's just not happening if one tries, there are some things more acceptable than others. Either of the 2 balls loose behind the 9 is bad, for the racker at least hehe. The 1 (or head ball if 8 ball) touching nothing is bad. Last row loose in 8 ball or 10 ball is bad. Other things can be worked around to an extent. Or use the Magic Rack, no loose balls.

I get that sometimes it seems virtually impossible to get a tight rack. But if you are willing to accept it then one should do so by pushing all the balls up to the front and take what comes. What I'm referring to about "purposely" is to create specific gaps in specific locations to create a beneficial rack.
