Mike Erwin is really really ill,

mike irwin

he lived just a few miles from me. i would stop in now and again. he had quite a few chronic health problems, it's no wonder he finally succumbed to the ravages of pneumonia. very personable southern man (gentleman) in his own right. tiny cue shop he worked out of. made and repaired cues most of the day. i'd go there and he'd practically train me on cue making; he just loved to talk it, show it to you, and didnt really consider anything he did a secret to hide from someone. he spent many hours over the course of a few years showing me and telling about the woods he collected and used. scott, his son, will follow with great work.
i'll miss mike, many will.

Mike Erwin was a true southern gentleman. Working with him and Scott over the past few years has been an absolute pleasure. I will miss our conversations and his great sense of humor. At a loss for words at the moment. My sincerest condolences to Scott and the Erwin family. He was a great man, friend, and mentor to all that knew him. Rest in peace Mike.

I just received a call from Scott Erwin today regarding the cue I sent them on Monday. Even though, he has to be going through a very difficult time, he was willing to let a customer know that he received their cue.

What a stand up guy.

Don't worry about me Scott. You take all the time you need.

What a tremendous loss to his family & the pool community! Very saddened to just read the news today about Mike's passing. It was always a treat to hear from Mike, a fine craftsman with a great sense of humor. Thoughts & prayers to Scott and family...

I am so sad to know about this, I don't know really what to say, Scott and family I am so sorry for yalls loss! I am praying for yall, yall are weighing heavy on this ole southern boys heart! I was back home 2 months ago and didn't swing by and See Mike and Scott! That is my biggest regret in my life right there!

Very sad news. I have heard he had some health problems, but didn't expect this now...

I didn't know him personally, but I knew him through his fantastic cues. - some of my Erwin cues: http://gursli.eu/MECues.html

Rest in peace, Mike.
My thoughts are with the family - and my little wish in between all sadness is that Scott will continue building cues.

Farewell Mike

This news of Mikes passing saddens be deeply. My condolences go out to Mikes family. I have many fond memory's of lengthy conversations with Mike over the phone "he loved to talk" I got to see Mike in Tunica at the Southern Classic & I'm grateful for that. He will be missed by many, was a world class craftsman & a fine gentleman. "Gods Speed My Friend"

Sad news. I never met Mike in person but talked him several times by phone. True gentleman. My sincere condolences to the family.

I've received a email from another member as of course people are still finding out about Mike Erwin's passing. His son Scott Erwin is truly a great talent in cue making and is working on a lot of repairs right now to fulfill in house jobs. Any questions about repairs you are seeking to have done, especially wraps or refinish work, Scott is very excellent and the work he has done for my customers has been outstanding.
A couple of folks have asked about helping the family and again, the paypal account they have is located in an earlier posting I made found on page one.

Is Scott taking orders for new cues? I tried sending an email to the address listed on the website inquiring about a custom cue, but it seems to be disabled?

Scott is taking orders and doesnt take him very long to build a cue which is nice. best way to get a hold of him is by calling 662-562-9009
