Mike Lambros beyond repute…

I had purchased a used Mike Lambros plain jane last year from a fellow AZ’r. Long story short I had some challenge with the fuerral having some cracks. No fuss, no muss Mr. Lambros simply says “Ship the shaft to me and I’ll fix it.”

I received my shaft back fixed up better than new. New tip, pad, fuerral and cleaned shaft. Mr. Lambros did not charge me a dime for the work. I must admit I was expecting to pay something as I did not purchase cue from him.

Great customer service you just don’t find much of anymore.

Sincere thank you to Mike Lambros,

Jay P.

wow-

that s doesn t come up often nowadays. That s a bit more than usual customer service. Cool!

Mike Lambros cues look & play good as well, and he has a loyal customer base.
It's nice to see this type of service.

:frown: I have difficulty ordering cue from him.

Hope you can help pass the message to him.
Probably he is still away on holiday.

I bought two cues from Mike Lambros through the years and had flawless transactions each time. I consider it a pleasure to do business with him. His reputation for building great cues is well deserved.

It's spooky I was just looking at his ultra-joint on net yesterday. How does that joint play?

I've played with a few different lamintaed shafts and the Lambros ultra-joint is my favorite. Beyond that I'd only be offering subjective feedback as I have not scientifically analyzed each for deflection, squirt, etc. However, the joint is the most secure joint you'll find out there. I'd suggest you purchase one as you won't be sorry.

I also appreciate that he sponsors the Action Pool Tour, which has given me the chance to sweat some pros in person and generally made my weekends better. Hope he knows his customers (and others) appreciate what he does. I get the impression building cues can be a thankless job sometimes.

Lambros cues are the best. Mike is a great guy too. I have an ultra for sale (not posted in for sale section yet) but I will eventually.

I disagree that Mike Lambros is "beyond repute". In fact, my own experience is the complete opposite of that.

I bought a cue from Lambros. I ordered it directly from the cuemaker cuz that is what I like to do. My initial conversation and contact was fine. WE talked about what I wanted and he quoted me a price. We traded a few emails, ironing out the details and I concluded by saying that I will send a check for the deposit amount that he asked for, then send the final balance upon cue completion. This is where things go sideways.

A couple weeks after I sent the check, I sent a follow up email to Lambros, making sure he had the check and for him to give me a *rough time frame* of when the cue will be done. I was explicit in saying that I am not rushing him, but would like to have an idea of what we are looking at. His response? Well, he didn't address my question and only tersely replied "I got the check. Everything will be done" (or something along those lines). I sent one more email, about 2 weeks later, asking the same thing, this time, I got no response from Lambros. I called and left a message a couple days later-no return call. I stop contacting him from there.

Fast forward...I get an email from Lambros, telling me the cue is completed and that I need to send the final balance. I reply that I will send a check for $xxxx.00, right away. Thing is, I made a mistake of saying that I will send a check for $100.00 more than I actually owed him. I was working off of memory and I remembered the final balance incorrectly. After digging up the old emails between Lambros and I, I found the correct balance and emailed Lambros, saying that I mentioned the wrong owed balance and am sending a check for the correct balance. I call him a few days later to see if he got the check. Mike says "Yeah I got the check, but you still owe me $100". I remind Mike that we agreed on $xxx.00 price for the cue and that my first check was for $xx.00 amount, therefore, I owe $xxx.00. Mike arrogantly and heatedly tells me that I am wrong, I owe him and he is not releasing the cue. At that point, I ask him that I still have the emails and the cancelled check copy, if he needs a memory jogger. Long story, longer...he relents and agrees with me. So, instead of shipping the cue, what does Mike Lambros say??

"You owe me $50 for shipping of your cue."

At that point, I am flabbergasted. As far as I know, every cue maker includes the cost of shipping with their initial price quote. For that matter, it doesn't cost $50. to ship a cue from Maryland to me. I was so pissed, that I told him to not ship it and luckily, I had a friend that lives nearby Lambros, who picked the cue up and shipped it to me. It was the principal of the thing; I was not gonna give Lambros another dime.

Oh, almost forgot-one of the ivory inlays has a broken point, which Lambros filled with black epoxy!! Nice job.

So, in the end, I will NEVER buy another Lambros and cannot recommend him to ANYONE.

I will say that the cue does play well, but then again, there are other cuemakers that make great playing cues too. I hear that Murray Tucker/ TCW is making cues again... http://www.murraytucker.com/old site/iii/index.html or http://www.murraytucker.com/

Just try and call him, the phone is the safest way to go. I "always" get a answer or he calls me up. I know however he is swamped with work right now and the actually work with the cues always comes first for him so he might unintentionally miss calling back or answer on mails.

I have bought and sold many of Mikes cues and they have all been great players and the finish and quality top notch.

He has alway treated my extremely good, so good actually that he doesn´t want me to say:p.
We have had and has long conversations on the phone, sometimes I call him or he calls me - long distance (Sweden).

In my book he´s a great guy and make one heck of a playing cue:thumbup:.

If you need some more info just PM and I will help out any way I can.

It's going to be tough for you as ML generally does not answer emails (based on my experience).

After trying few times to contact him via email, I had to place my order over the phone after which he answered and sent a couple of emails regarding my order. He did finish my cue in very short time he quoted - a bit ahead of schedule.

After a year of ownership, when I had a question on my cue and sent him an email, he went MIA on email again.

I also know Mike to be a stand up guy and wonderful cue maker with the highest integrity you will find anywhere amongst cue makers. He is generous with his craft, supporting many local pool tours over many years by donating various cues with a wide range of value.

I believe in Mike's work. I've been in his shop when he began developing the joint he now uses for all his cues. It is revolutionary, as anyone who has a Lambros cue will tell you. Great cues from a great craftsman, businessman, and gentleman. Go Mike!

I can tell you I had the monster scruggs in my avatar that I thought I would NEVER part with Until my friend who actually works for lambros sent me home with a plane jane lam for a friend to hit with and after hitting some balls at home with it I realized I could never play with my scruggs again. It's like pounding nails into a wall. That ultra joint is the real deal. I've play with and without the laminated shaft and it plays just as good.

There's two sides to every story and the truth always lies somewhere in between...I would love to hear mike's side of this but i'm sure he has to much class to respond.

There are two sides to every story, which is why I added very little personal opinions and stuck to the events, as they happened. It happened, it is fact.

As far as saying that Mike Lambros "has too much class to respond" tells me you prolly are too biased to hear any comments that are not nuthugger responses. What does he have too much class for? Addressing the facts of a situation that actually happened?

as you see them as happening...two sides to every story like I said. 25 years of managing people has taught me that lesson over and over again.
