Mike Massey Finger Pool

Has Mike slowed down?

I know Mike is a big strong guy with hands to match, but the years must have taken some toll on the joints of his fingers.

Just wondering if he still performs all the finger pool feats he used to.

Mike's fingers are just as nimble today, as they were years ago. That's an old video...Mike has had a beard for several years now. His finger pool is second to none, and he still does those shots in every exhibition. He has hands the size of HAMS, which accounts for all that finger strength. I've "caddied" for Mike on several occasions, and he is, without a doubt...amazing!:grin: There is another friend of mine, an older fellow, from California, by the name of Reeves Smith, who also does some very classy finger pool.

Thanks for the info Scott . :)

This is the one trick of Mike's that I found truly astonishing. He was here a few years ago during our state championships (maybe you were there, too, iowa_player?), and this was my favorite part of his show. I asked him afterwards if it would be impossible for me to ever be able to do that given the size of my hands. He said it wasn't the size, and then he stuck his hand out, spread his fingers wide and asked me to try to squeeze his fingers back together... they didn't budge. Those are some STRONG digits.

We used to call him The Tennessee Tarzan. Maybe the most powerful man to ever wield a cue. Charlie Bryant is renowned for his arm wrestling skills, but I seriously doubt he could match Mike in any feat requiring pure strength.

Im kinna glad Wendy <9ballgirl> or RichR havent ratted me out on finger pool talents.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOH !!! Foiled again.

Mike is the true master of the fingers !!!

Thats freaking AMAZING,,,,,

I think so to . Has anyone else tried this ?
I have good size hands and I just can't get this figured out .
I can get the cueball around a ball on the spot but that's about it .
Anyone have any advise ?

Thanks ... Larry

Truthfully, Mike is way "out of stroke" in this video. As you can see, it takes him several tries to make some of the shots. Many times I have seen him hit every shot in one try...even when the obstructing ball is barely a balls width off the bottom rail. One of my friends in Bozeman, MT (Curt Watts) has gotten pretty good at some of Mike's finger pool shots...but not the 'limbo shot', which is what he's doing in this video. Curt is a normal sized guy, with normal size hands. He does have very strong grip strength, which would account for how he can duplicate ANY of Mike's finger pool shots! :D
