Mike Sigel - A true champion

Don't worry about it, Mike. I didn't know about what happened until somebody sent me a message with the news of his mother's passing.

Very sad news. Mike's going through a tough time. Like him or not, it took a lot of balls for Mike to show up in NJ and play as well as he did. If faced with the same situation, most players would have elected to skip the event altogether. Mike decided to play despite what was going on in his life. It is too bad that the forfeit occurred.

The forfeit is overshadowing the more important issue - which is the loss of a parent. That is never an easy situation to deal with emotionally. I'm sure that anybody that has experienced the loss of a parent will understand what he was going through.

I spoke to him that first day and I could tell he was not his outgoing self. Plus he is relocating to California and will not see his kids as frequently and you could tell his head was not 100% there. I commend him for being there and playing.

just want to echo some sentiments of support for mike.

he's one of the few players who is a bonafide champion and living legend. he's always played world class pool with style as well, and also has one of the coolest strokes out there as well.

i love his attitude and mentality to the game, and i really hope we're seeing the re-emergence of him into full time competition again.

very sad news to hear about his loss, but he isn't arguably the greatest pool player ever for nothing - he's a strong character and hopefully he can get through this and channel his energy into being one of the top players around again. he most certainly still has the game.

Like him or hate him, he has to be one of the all time greats! I always enjoyed having him in tourneys. He played great and was always entertaining. I was his "yes" man on more than one occasion.

I don't think this push to change his image, and his name to "The Mouth" is necessarily a good idea. Captain Hook was a great nickname! HELLO!! Mike should instead be himself, gabbing with the fans and playing jam up pool.

The only time I have been displeased with him was when the IPT went belly up and Trudough refused to pay the players. Mike should have stepped right up and taken a stand on behalf of his fellow pool players. It seemed selfish of him to accept all the monetary rewards he got and for everyone else to get shafted. I think by now we all know Trudough had the money, he just didn't want to pay.

And when I heard that Mike was still paling around with Trudough, going fishing etc., that really bothered me. He had turned his back on everyone else. Where was he in defense of all the pool players who spent a lot of money to come to Reno and play? And then not get paid! MISSING IN ACTION! And I would tell him this to his face to, if I could get a word in edgeways. :)

Maybe he was playing the undercover agent and whispered to KT's ears all kinds of requests while KT was sleeping and that made him finally pay to us?

(lol)
