I will bet that there is less than 1% of pool players who have made $5000 in a day. I hope nobody ever game him a nickle, except for Trudeau that is.

And yes, did a lot of money exchange hands into some pool players hands (even if not all that was promised)? Yes, that is good. It is not in Trudeau's pocket anymore. But remember folks, all of that scam money came from some suckers somewhere. It could have come from someone's sick grandmother or desperate individual looking for a miracle cure, so don't think that money is clean.

It's really hard telling how long the IPT debacle will set pool back. The black eye of the IPT is just be another stain on the reputation of pool everywhere.

Nope. Last I heard he was at the minimum security prison at maxwell airforce base in Montgomery. Golf course, vending machines, fitness facilities, even pool and ping pong tables. No concrete cells with steel bars. No gang rapes by momma and his crew.

I guess it is punishment though.

I wonder if the IPT could have worked (legitimately).

I always dream of winning the lottery and trying to do that or doing something like the TAR matches...

If you have two or three million a year to put into tournaments, you could make a tour work. The problem is getting back four of five million from the audience and advertisers.

KTs whole plan to make money revolved around internet gambling if I remember correctly and then the gov't cracked down. He would have been worse than Don King and possibly ruined pool.

I'm no fan of KT, but that model is what has worked for snooker and darts. Matchroom and Barry Hearn are great for the games, but they are able to do it at least in part because of the English bookmakers. People bet on the matches, which drives viewers and interest, the bookies want the matches so they pay advertising and prize money. I hope Barry's US Open is a huge success and paves the way for more.

The laws had just changed shortly after the formation on the tour. I have no problem with this as a business model and maybe someone with deep pockets would be able to make it work today. Poker was shut down for a while, but people and casinos have found a way to make it work legally without the govt's blessing.

I wish we had a tour, I wish pool players made big money, but I've been wishiing this for a long time. It is what it is.

With Barry inking a 7 year deal in Vegas, he knows the great American players will surface, and are starting too. Our players seem to follow the dollar pretty well. The Camel Tour had great moments. This either will come together or not. Best scenario I've seen in all my years.

He's still locked up and doesn't get to go anywhere. Not quite as nice as the digs he had in Ojai, CA.
 
Oh...are you talking about the US Open? Is that what he was refering to in the 7 year deal?
