seriously mike's one of the greatest people to ever pick up a cue - trouble is there's probably a bit of doubt in his mind, ..........He probably isn't as confident as he used to be which would have an effect.

Probably true.

However, if Mike is half as confident as he used to be; then that would make him still twice as confident as any living player.:) His modesty was NOT legendary.

Is the challenge match set? If so, where, what time, and who is showing it live?

I would have to say good luck to both as I own the Schmidt DVDs and really enjoy watching him play, but Sigel has been my favorite player ever since meeting him at the Texas Cue Lounge in 1981. I hope the match is competitive.

great to have you both playing straight pool again. Mike obviously is on to get a revenge for his loss at 14.1 champs - but you have my support John!

Hi John,

We met while my partner and I played the nice folks from OB Cues in the scotch doubles event in Vegas. It was great speaking with you again. Thanks for your advice. I returned home yesterday to find Mike at Classic Billiards in Rochester. I watched his 224. Some racks were PERFECT. Some were unusual patterns:eek: . I look forward to your challenge match. Where is it going to be held? Mike talks about going to Europe soon.

I would call Mike A PRO who doesn't want to play for peanuts when he already has a lot of $ ????? (and can still beat nearly anyone in 14.1)

I'm a huge JS fan - love his game. I'd be shocked if he doesn't have a tiger by the tail in this match. Going to be a tough match.
 
I enjoyed the Schmidt/Ortmann match at IPT. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much with the slow cloth, but it was nice to see how the winner got around the table with the balls not breaking apart easily.

Being the undercard, I expect the Schmidt/Sigel match to also be 125 points, but I would love to see a 150, or dare I say, a 200 point match. It's a dream matchup, and they are both fairly quick players, so it wouldn't take more than 2 hours. If not this time, maybe some time in the near future. I hope people enjoy the 14.1 and want to see more and more of it.
 
I'm not sure if anyone has alluded to it yet, but this will be quite the epic rematch. I assume there are very few of us 14.1 fans that don't already own the match from the 2000 U.S. Open 14.1 that was Sigel vs. Schmidt when John was a relative new comer. Schmidt won in a squeaker, but Sigel broke his stick in the process. A lot has changed since then, but I imagine this upcoming match will be no less competitive.
