Million dollar prize fund for 2024 world pool championship

If men and women wear the same style hijab, then I want a custom MR/nineball Hijab.

If men have a different style hijab, then I want a Mosconi Cup Hijab.

Hijabs are amazing for outdoor weather conditions in dry and sandy climates.

I wonder how Saudis pool equipment ages in the desert. I imagine the dry and sand make erosion patterns more abrasive than in tropical regions with humid climate where erosion is warping and fungal.

I mentioned this a while back that to Saudis should be involved but everyone said no.

Glad they are now and they upped the prize.

Remember the USA and Saudis have always had a good relationship in the sporting world.

Only they can save pool with the amount of money they have. I mean they just started a rival golf league against the PGA and also bought the PGA.

Emily already warned all the men about their behavior, she should not have to say anything more.

She is too busy bringing in the money.

All the pool players better suddenly start talking about how amazing it is to run a pool business or have a pool table in an entertainment area. There should be tons of free content for how to get started in pool with the right coach and choosing the right tournaments.

If pool is to grow, the pros have to teach the new fans how they can grow their game with their community.

Then we can have the ultimate participation of all nations and all peoples for the champion of Matchroom Nineball Global Rankings.

I feel blessed to live in this era of pool and technology and Emily Frazer.

Halal Chicken on Rice is what I think when I hear Saudi food.

Ask for white sauce.

Lamb on a gyro is good to, it depends on the seasonings and sauces they use.

Saudi means the food is good.

I always need an excuse for going to Jeddah. Going to an academic conference is too suspicious.

A pool tournament in Jeddah is more historic, like Johnson City historic. Imagine Fatts in Saudi, he is a culture shock.

Most people's initial reaction will be that locating this tournament in Jeddah is a big fail. Hoping against hope that they have some kind of plan to get butts in seats and make the event loud and exciting.
I don’t think that’s the middle eastern culture. I could be wrong. 10 years of Doha was watching paint dry. I know the country is different, but I think the culture is probably the same.

Saudi Arabia are allies with the USA, therefore, I am good with them because they can upped the prize money for pool players. Attract more viewers and one step, I mean many steps forward, in getting pool to where we all want it.

It’s obvious this is a purely financial decision on the part of Matchroom.

They didn’t pick them for their rich history in the game, or the rabid devotion of the fans. No, Saudi Arabia was picked because they have a near bottomless pool of money to throw at things.

The Saudi’s don’t give a damn about growing the game or helping the players or any of the other platitudes that Matchroom has used to anoint themselves the savior of pool. They care solely about laundering their reputation to the rest of the world. And Matchroom is happy to go along with that if it helps them hit their own financial metrics. Screw that.

Any word on whether or not they’re going to have to play the tournament in some sheikh’s basement like the Qatar world championships?

You will be watching.

This is a great event and a lot of money at stake. I'm excited thinking about it. So far Mosconi Cup is the only thing worth watching.

Sounds like Germany and the Olympics during WW2.

That didn't play out too well. German lead did not end well. German culture about being the best is ok to a point, after awhile it backfires.

Saudi's want a chance, when no one else does. That is classic American sports play. Pass to Saudi and support the play.

i don't think this is the issue. there seems to be a good amount of regional pool players, and if attendance is fairly affordable the filipino fan contingent will show up. the prize money will sort out the excitement - imagine a QF match meaning you're playing for 40k or a chance for the 200k first prize. that's massive for a pool player, life changing. i think we'll see nerves like never before.

the issue is a political and moral one. but money talks. i'm torn between being glad for the players to get this opportunity and my deep dislike for the country. someone brought up china as a comparison on a snooker forum. but the chinese snooker events are private enterprises / promotions, while this is the saudi government. that's different. i've read some golf and tennis writers suggesting western sports can change SA in a positive way. one can hope, i guess.
