I think it's 50/50. We may be underestimating Matchroom here. They may be able to create an exciting environment over even though an inexperienced promotion was unable to.I agree completely.
I don’t think that’s the middle eastern culture. I could be wrong. 10 years of Doha was watching paint dry. I know the country is different, but I think the culture is probably the same. Most people's initial reaction will be that locating this tournament in Jeddah is a big fail. Hoping against hope that they have some kind of plan to get butts in seats and make the event loud and exciting.
so you are pro sports washing? First time i've heard that take, people usually either are against it or dont care, but rarely infavor of. good to know where peeps stand.I mentioned this a while back that to Saudis should be involved but everyone said no.
Glad they are now and they upped the prize.
Saudi Arabia are allies with the USA, therefore, I am good with them because they can upped the prize money for pool players. Attract more viewers and one step, I mean many steps forward, in getting pool to where we all want it.so you are pro sports washing? You will be watching. It’s obvious this is a purely financial decision on the part of Matchroom.
They didn’t pick them for their rich history in the game, or the rabid devotion of the fans. No, Saudi Arabia was picked because they have a near bottomless pool of money to throw at things.
The Saudi’s don’t give a damn about growing the game or helping the players or any of the other platitudes that Matchroom has used to anoint themselves the savior of pool. They care solely about laundering their reputation to the rest of the world. And Matchroom is happy to go along with that if it helps them hit their own financial metrics. Screw that.

I will not be watching. There are plenty of other things I can spend my time on, missing a pool tournament isn’t the end of the world. You will be watching.
This is a great even and a lot of money at stake. I'm excited thinking about it. So far Mosconi Cup is the only thing worth watching.
