Missing schon returns four years later

Hi Mom!

It was right around two a.m on a thursday night, Four years ago. My best friend, team captain, and all around good egg! grabbed his cue case and left the bar at closining time.
The only two folks left at the bar were the bartender and another friend of mine. when he left.
Much to his dismay, He discovered that he had not packed up his cue, before leaving with his case the night before.
after a quick trip back and some follow up phone calls, he was told no one had found his missing schon.
this was a cue I had sold him, way!! to cheap, Because he was so determined to get one of his beloved schon cues. and I decided to help that dream become reality.
Saddness prevailed!
Last night, I walk into my same usual watering hole, four years later, and there it it is! leaning up against a stool next to the pool table! I was greeted by a gal I know with the customary hug, and spotted it during this time.
I imediatly survey the area, look at her, and point at it, and say..Thats my cue! (claiming it in my buddies absence) Who brought that?, She says, I got it from The bartender. What? I got it from the bartender cause someone took mine last night.
clutching it firmly, I explained the situation, as I unscrewed it and put it in my truck. She understood completely, and when she quickly confronted the bartender, He says....Oh I didnt know it was Jays, I thought it was his buddies!!!
I returned it to him on my way home. He was sure surprised to see it I'll tell you. But the happiness was a bit clouded by the S.O.B stealing from him in the first place.
Wow, four years later!

worst part was that he really new who's cue it was..

by saying he didnt know it was jays. he thought it was his buddies..

like it really matter if it was yours or your friends.. he still kept it with full knowlege you and your friend were looking for it..

i hope you told the owner about it.. i mean, one thing finding it and all.. but knowing for 4 years it belong to somebody and then having the full nerve to bring it back..

its funny.. i dont think people know who much we know our cues to think somebody would forget..

glad to hear there was a happy ending to the story.. i hope that bartender gets whats what he diserves..

I have known the owners for twelve years, They are not in town at the moment.(semi retired) But I will defininitlly be haveing a nice chat with them!,As far as the bartenders health is concerned, My bud is a Large red headed Irishman with a um... Outgoing personality. He did say he can't wait to see him.

Sounds to me like it was being kept in the establishment and probably under the bar, like lost and found. Ive seen people leave cues and darts at bars and same thing, they end up getting loaned out...... I would find out the facts before I jumped off the deep end..... ;)

Oh come on now. How come the bartender never loaned it out to Big Red. He knew it belonged to him. Red had asked the bartender if it had been found. I am pretty sure it did not sit in the bar for 4 years.

Unbelievable!! I hope that happens to me someday.I left my Schon in a pool hall years ago and went back a few days later. It was long gone and have never recovered it.It was a custom Schon too,not one of the later models either.Congrats on the recovery.I guess there is some justice in the world??

A friend of mine had his Schon and Predator with the case taken out of his car at the poolhall. Two weeks alter at another place, a teenager offered to sell it to him for $20.00!!
My buddy told him he only had $15.00, and started to dicker iwth him whil I called the cops on the cell phone. We kept the kid busy until the coppers arrived. Turns out the kid had a bunch of stolen stuff in his parents garage.
Stupid Kid!!

Great story, glad you got it back for your friend.

I had my original Stretch bridge stolen from Jillian's after a party. A friend of mine, Marney, saw the exact one later. The guy told her he got it from a hock shop. We knew it was mine, because there were very few originals with the blue plastic (now black) and she and I were the only ones in the area with the blue plastic. Also, I got Mike Danner's original with the Velcro padding on the grooves and this one had it too.
