My goodness, I must be tired. I was thinking of Allen Hopkins when I previously wrote that he was a player. Mitch Lawrence is just a broadcaster.

apparently every shot is a nice touch. haha i think he's a tool too. why don't they have someone like grady or john shmidt doing the annuncing. they both in my opinion have good announcer voices.
Mitch has a background in acting. thus, he feels comfortable in front of the ESPN cameras. and since he's married to Ewa, well, it was just a natural fit for him to announce.
I, for one, am thankful he wants to do the job. we could get stuck with someone like Joe Morgan, the baseball announcer, who has got to be the absolute dullest ho-hum announcer of all time.

If it weren't for Mitch, who could add insight like:
"If she makes this shot, it will really send a message to her opponent that she came to play"
"This is the type of shot where you have to stay down, trust your findamentals, and believe it will go in"
"With that shot, she is taking charge of the match and is sending a clear message that she will not be denied."
I guess what I am trying to say is Mitch is my hero.

Sometimes the esoteric machinations and astute observations by Mr. Morgan(a Hall of Fame player) can seem dull and ho-hum,but to a true student of the game his commentary is priceless and engaging.
i dont think i have ever heard joe morgan say anything that i either didnt already know or hadnt already heard.
as far as i am concerned mitch is 10 times a better pool announcer than morgan is a baseball announcer.

If a man is going to be on national television broadcasting major pool tournaments like the World Cup of Pool on FSN, he should at least be schooled in proper English. Davenport's double negatives make me thankful that Lawrence can actually speak well.

I know this will ruffle some feathers with the women player lovers but it's my opinion. Mitch must be a good actor the way he pushes the women's cue sport. Some one with a good knowledge of pool couldn't keep a straight face while describing what's going on and still make the show interesting to people who aren't knowledgeable about the game. Nearly every shot, according to him, has a difficult rating of 9 or 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. but are executed to perfection by the women. He describes Allison Fischer as the greatest pool player on this planet. Give me a break.

Kim Davenport isn't any worse than some of the ex NBA/NFL/MLB players out there. I love him, but I can't stand to listen to Michael Irvin.
So its safe to turn up the volume on ESPN pool coverage?
