9BallMarksman said:Yes, he is married to her, but he is tied to the game of pool through his own play moreso than his marriage. He was one of the better players in the late 1970s and 80s and into the 1990s.

DrCue'sProtege said:Mitch has a background in acting. thus, he feels comfortable in front of the ESPN cameras. and since he's married to Ewa, well, it was just a natural fit for him to announce.
I, for one, am thankful he wants to do the job. we could get stuck with someone like Joe Morgan, the baseball announcer, who has got to be the absolute dullest ho-hum announcer of all time.

as far as i am concerned mitch is 10 times a better pool announcer than morgan is a baseball announcer.

9BallMarksman said:I am on board with DCP. I would rather have Mitch Lawrence than some illiterate moron who canno speak English worth a damn. Yes, I am talking about Kim Davenport. He is by far the worst excuse of a commentator I've ever heard. With classics like:
"He don't fear no one right now."
"We already seen that earlier this week."
"I don't like this shot, you don't get no movement on the cue ball."
If a man is going to be on national television broadcasting major pool tournaments like the World Cup of Pool on FSN, he should at least be schooled in proper English. Davenport's double negatives make me thankful that Lawrence can actually speak well.
