Here's the Miz video tribute we put together for last year's U.S. Open. It has the two commercials he starred in. He also appeared in 6-7 others.

Last year's banquet at the Holiday Inn Chaesapeake was also taped and will be posted another time.

Thanks for the memories Miz!

That was great. I'd completely forgotten about the second Miller spot with Dangerfield getting "no action" (no respect at all) on the break. Damn those were funny! Thanks for posting that link!

Thanks Steve

That was a great tribute!

I'm only 30 years old but one of the first commercials I ever had a memory of was a Miller Lite commercial with Steve Mizerak. It saddens me to see a pool icon pass, especially one that might be the single reason I took interest in the game. So to Steve, thanks from all in a sport you continuously promoted and made better. Thanks from me. RIP

Thanks for sharing the wonderful video. I remember visiting his room he was sharing with Dave Bollman in Reno. I wanted to buy one of his Miz shirts which I still proudly wear. I remember he had a giant jacuzzi right in the middle of his suite. Both large guys, I wondered if they had requested it especially made for them. When I looked in, I noticed that it was made for 2 people, not one. :o

I was fortunate to watch him play several times. What a sweet stroke for a big guy. He will certainly be missed.

I remember him getting a standing ovation at the IPT KOH tournament. That was a magic moment.

I'm never one to get 'teary eyed' but that did the trick!

Steve was a 'big' man in many ways. Way, way back in the day, the challenge match between Steve Mizerak & Steve Davis got me hooked on American pool. His (SM's) stoke was perfect!

It's gonna take some doing to be a greater ambassador to the game.

But...

Steve Mizerak hopes that someone out there can do it.

Course he does.

Great video....I was about 10 yrs old when his Light Beer commercials were on so it really brought back some good memories for me and made me rember why I started playing pool. The Miz was one of a kind! Always a showman and ALWAYS a gentelman. I have a couple of instructional tapes with him and Arcer in them that were the 1st instructional tapes I bought (or actually ordered) when I started playing pool. And who will ever forget his memorable line in The Color of Money, "...I didnt deserve that!" R.I.P. Miz....You helped bring pool up to what it is today.

Rob,

Thanks for sharing the video you put together for last years U.S. Open 9-Ball tourny tribute dinner. It was great.

I am very sorry that we missed last years event.

I never knew Steve personally but got to know his style, wit, and people skills through the years at the U.S. Open 9-Ball event.

What a guy, what a nice guy!!!

Our loss in losing him for sure.

Jerry

Thanks for the great video tribute to Steve. Notice how much thinner he was in the "Just Showin' Off" commericial made in the early 80's. That was his best 'playing' weight, when he was still on top.

I'm embarassed to say that I am just getting around to viewing this thread and video. :o

I have some pictures I took of Steve from around 1979. They are not that great, but I'll dig them up and post them.

RIP, Steve . . . .
