Pristine condition:

The one pictured would be at least half it's value.
And that cue used would only sell for $250-300.

When did something that's been modified become an original? :scratchhead:
Well now he knows. Just keep it and use it. They do hit good and he might also try putting a LD shaft on it. Some of those older steel joint cues can have a lot of deflection depending on the shaft.By original, he thought that was a proper Balabushka, and not a mass production cue.
Thank you all for taking the time to answer.
I’ll tell him the bad news ;-)
Ps: What does a real Balabushka look like ?

Draw should be no problem. I've had multiple steel-joint cues and could draw the s^*t out of the ball with all of them. Probably needs to have tip shaped(dime radius) and scuffed. These ADAM-built 'bushka copies are well-made and generally play quite good. Put a OB Classic+ shaft on it and it will play REALLY good.Yeah, I'v tried it and it is very hard to get good draw shot with it.
Even a Cuetec house cue hits better![]()

A Revo shaft on a modified Balabushka would make perfect sense.
Interesting. I wonder how much the accuracy of this cue will go up with a Revo compared to the old shaft.
Back to reality. I feel bad for the person that actually believed he had a valuable cue and now only to learn it is pretty much worth nothing.
I can understand how someone would believe this and have seen it first hand.
I had a friend tell me he had a Balabushka. Said a friend gave it to him and someone at Amsterdam Billiards in NYC informed him it was an original based upon the "sound" it made during play. :speechless:
He showed the cue to me and it wasn't fun to be the bearer of bad news.
To the OP: I wouldn't say anything to your buddy. Let him believe it is the real deal. Don't spoil his fun by telling him Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny isn't real either.
Who knows? Maybe someone will be silly enough to pay him $800 or he keeps it thinking he owns a real treasure. win/win

Exactly what i was thinking. Let's just con somebody else with this thing. Wow.So, let him con somebody else? You just made my do not deal with list.
Thanks for the heads up.

Oh for crying out loud.
Seriously?
Pump the brakes.
My comment wasn't about a malicious intent to con someone else.
Rather it was a comment to not burst someone's bubble.
No wonder there is so much drama on this site.
