I've been thinking of trying out a Molavia tip, and was wondering if anybody could give me some feedback on them?

The search results bring up a couple of threads, but they are mostly related to the sale of these tips, and 90% of them are just bumps by a seller.

I'm looking for actual Player feedback on these tips.

Have any of you played with these tips, or installed them and gotten feedback from a player on them???

Molavia

Mike,

I play with MS Kamui (tan) tips but I know a couple people in town that either play with Molavia or have played with Molavia and they seem to be a pretty good tip. One of my friends Tyler has a Molavia on one of his cues, and he is an excellent player and had good things to say about the tip. There is another player Bob that plays with a Molavia and claims its the best tip he has ever had, but it's kind of like cues, everyone has a favorite.

Spencer,

Do you know what type of Molavia (S, R, H) the other guys that liked the Molavia's used?

I've been using a Molivia medium (regular) with a micarta ferrule on my Dufferin conversion that Lee Peppers did for me. It's also a stiffer old growth shaft.

It is holding shape well, has no problems holding chalk and I'm getting great action with it. I've asked Lee to put it another cue he is doing for me and I'm ordering some for my Joss player.

Put me down as a big fan.

The Moori, Kamui and Molavia tips are all very good tips. You can't go wrong with any of them. Every person have their own preference and it is best to try them all. My buddy Roy(troyroy78) likes the Soft to Med Tips, while I on the other hand loves the Med to Hard ones. We have tried them all Japanese Tips.

I have used the Molavia R tips (medium) on quite a few of the cues I've built. I have one on my personal player. They play very good. Jossfans assessment of the tip is correct.
I've never had a problem or heard a complaint from a customer.

Hope this helps

I love them. I recommend going straight to a molavia hard, unless you really like a soft tip. IMO, Molavia hard is about like Moori medium.

OK I just recieved a new, rc3 (Richard Chudy) cue that came with the Molavia tips. The tips were installed on the shafts a while back, so I have no idea which tip (S, R, H) these are. They feel "Medium", but I don't know enough about them to be sure.

After they settled in and got shaped they play OK. By OK, I mean they seem to offer some decent feel, but they do not hold chalk like a Kamui.

I will be sending the cue back and getting it re-tipped with some Kamui Black Super Soft tips, so I'll let you know what I think of the difference between them. I have not tried the new Super Soft Black, so this should be good!

Hi,

The hardness of these Molavia tips were changed over the years based on feedbacks that we get. It used to be that soft was at 6 NM, Regular at 15NM and Hard at 30NM. The last batch that I've received, I had the medium hardness changed to 25NM so the older tip will play a little different. The medium was too soft for me and it appear that everyone seem to like harder tips now a day. The Hard at 30 (nano or newton meter) is by far the best tips that I've played with. There plans to introduce the real hard at 35 NM, so the hard that I sell now are really a MH at 30NM. I have enough of the Molavia hard tips stashed away to last me a lifetime :). I actually starting to like the new medium at 25NM...they play a lot firmer than before but also it seem to get more feel out of the tip.

Regards,
Duc.

meter for these tips and currently,

Spoke too soon???

Looks like I might have spoken too soon on these tips.

The tips Richard put on my cue were Molavia Softs. They were not shaped the way I wanted, but did feel fine. They didn't hold chalk the way i liked either...

Then I re-shaped them to a dime radius, and tapped them with a tapper.

The result was practically a new tip! After I shaped and tapped it, the tip really is a nice! I had the tips switched over to some more familiar Kamui Black tips (Super Soft this time), so I'll be able to give them a good A/B test when I get the cue back on Friday.

Anyway it looks like there is a bit more break in to these tips. With the Kamui, I'm used to just chalking the new tip and off I go. I should have taken the time to make sure these were shaped and tapped properly, and then played with them a while longer to really get a feel for them. I know I'll be happy with either the Kamui Black or the Molavia though, but I was really impressed with the Molavia at the end.

Soft Tips???

Duc,

What is the NM difference in the Soft tips nowadays?

I agree with the break in time on the Molavia. The first couple of hours I wasn't impressed with the medium...but after shaping it up and hitting it every now and then with a tip pick I love it.

New Molavia Fan!!!

I like the Molavia Soft *ALMOST* than the Kamui Black Soft or Black Super Soft.

The Molavias have a different feel than the Black's IMO. Not good or bad, just different.

Grip-wise they are close, but I'd give the nod to Kamui on this one. Also the new Russian Magic chalk works far better on both tips than the gray Master's I was using.

The Molavia is a nice tip, but I think I'm going to stick with the Kamui Blacks for now.

Molavia is my new tip of choice. Lee at LP turned me on to these and I couldn't be happier. From performance to wear to keeping their shape. Just a great tip all around.

Great tip and duc is a great guy to deal with you will not good wrong with either the tip or the seller
