Montana People PLEASE SPLAIN

Hmm. Well let me remind u coco. Arizona, courtesy of Ron Merseal, had the Desert Dust Off for the past few years. They were all 5K added btw. Now we have the Arizona Desert Classic Tour, which is 1K or 1500 added every month (so i'm not sure where you get 1/2 grand from). In addition, there will be a season ending Desert Classic Championship Tourney with nearly 6K added. That will not be based on 512/264/128/64/32/16/8/4/2. If only two players show up, it will still be 6K added.

I think the folks in Montana are going a great job, as are the folks in Arizona. Maybe you should go back to some more fishing. I do know that you read all of the papers here in Arizona, are well aware of the tourneys that are happening; therefore, i will assume this is another stab at myself and/or Jimmy or both.

If it would make you feel better, or if it looks better, we can advertise like this " OVER 25K ADDED", with the the small print of "based on 512 players".

No Splanation necessary. Have a good day!

Oh, and lastly, the sponsors and room owners in Arizona probably don't appreciate ur thread. But, then again, what's new.

I suggest you bump that up to $1,000,000, then put 'up to' in tiny print.

What is better to a pool-player than a million.

A billion...hey!! I think we might be onto something here.

There is no bad place to live in Montana, if you like the outdoors, and cold winters. Winters in Butte use to be AWEFUL.

If I was going to move up there again I would consider Dillion because of the Fishing on the Big Hole, and Beaverhead. Bozeman because it is a collage town with everything, and close to Yellowstone. Deer Lodge because of the proximity to Butte, and Missoula, and more Great fishing, or Great Falls, or Helena because of of again great outdoor opportunities. I will pass on Missoula as it is a TOO LIBERAL UNIVERSITY TOWN!

The latest job offer is in Great Falls but I have not decided.

I noticed jobs do not pay a whole lot there,I am hoping the cost of living is not to bad...

Cost of living is high, and property taxes are high, but if you drive a 7 year old car it's a one time registration fee.

FYI IMHO Great Fall is a great town IMHO.

TY for the info and for the PM.

I can not afford cars that are only 7 years old LOL.

I have been through Montany many times and done some hiking there. It is very beautiful,I like cold winters and especially enjoy the mountains in Western Montana.

It is far and away the best pool town in MT, these 5k added tourneys are 4 times a year (2 nine-ball/ 2 eight-ball) and if you are looking for action it wouldn't be too far of a drive to get to Bozeman or Helena

Lance isn't a skinny, raw-bone kind of guy, about six foot tall, who plays a pretty good game of pool, originally from the South, maybe Mississippi or Louisiana, is he?
Thanks,

John of the 8 ball inn has done more for pool in mont than anybody. And yes the last 5k added had 150 players. A place like the 8 ball inn makes its money on gambling food and most of all alcohol not pool. The tourney is played on 7 foot valleys with 860. The tables are set at 50 cents. The races are short 5 in 8 ball 7 or 9 in 9ball, so with a roll or two a good player can beat a great player. At 25 dollars where else can a pool player have 2 days of fun? I dont know but I would guess he gets some help with the added money from his gambling vendor, beer distributor, maybe a motel that he sends players to, people in mont are not cheap. John loves pool and does what it takes. The tourney gets a lot of players from Canada, good players like Tyler Edie, Edwin Montal, Stan T and a lot more.Salt Lake City has a few players come up. Four players car pooled up from Cal. the last one. Glen Atwell has been here and did not win it and Justin Bergman was here and didnt win either. The Mont. players support it real well also. So it is not what you could call a cherry pickers event. I hope that fills in some blanks.

Well we are at it again. Instead of Great Falls at the 8 Ball In and John's great tournaments, its in Kalispell. Guys putting it on do not have a room or bar. Its just a bunch of the locals who put on the Montana Memorial every year at this time. It will be at the Cattlemens this year. And there will be 120 men. My understanding is they had to turn some away since there just wasn't enough room for more. Not sure how many are in the the womens tournament. But I am out the door, 'cause I am one of the LUCKY 120 guys. btw, my drive is about 100 miles, those east of the mountains started yesterday and this morning cause their drive is several hundred miles.

Can not think of an tournament since I have lived in Arizona that had 120 over players. Think when you said, "just a bunch of the locals who put on the Montana Memorial every year", if i read that correctly the locals PLURAL are woring in ONE DIRECTION. not like that is Arizona, most of the Room/Bar Owners work ONLY FOR THEMSELVES!

Jack, I plan to spend the summer season working in Virginia City. How far is that from you? I'm not a pool player but I like to play pool. Been retired a while and thought perhaps I might get a cue from you before heading back to Tenn. in Sept-Oct.
