I wanted to add that I feel that the foam texture under the tip really adds something special to the hit. Very similar to when you get that special shaft & tip that hits extra sporty. Gorilla glue, Sniper tip, old Grice ferrule is something really superb...hits like old Micarta...nuff said!!!
Special mention of the new Tiger "sabre" ferrule material. Have not hit with it yet (tomorrow) but it seems to be exactly what cuemakers have been looking for. Tony said it was unbreakable. I have cut, made, and installed a ferrule of it. It works really fantastic. Bright white, very clean...not one single dark spot of trash, polishes perfect and extremely chalk resistant. Tony sent me rods and said try it drilled or capped. Just from working with it, I love it...seems to be an ultra superior material...and not nearly as hard as the new Ivorine 4. If tomorrow it has the "softer" hit I prefer...the Saber material will be my first choice.
