B&D Cues location was on of several business in a strip mall destroyed by fire this morning in Springfield, MO.

News Report

The cue maker at B&D, Dave Ward, is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and will go out of his way to help someone. He has lost everything in this fire and I'm not sure if there was insurance at all. This shop was his means of livelihood so I'm certain this will cause him great hardship.

We already have a couple of local fund raising events on the schedule and the local pool community is responding well.

I have nothing to do with fund raising efforts (except for this post) or the business - I just like Dave and appreciate the work he can do. Should anyone like to help out a stranger in need, I would gladly accept for him whatever you might wish to give and you can be absolutely certain that Dave will get whatever it might be. I am sure that Sherrie (manager of Dennis' Place in Springfield where the benefit tournaments will be held) would also be willing to act as a collection point.

For those of you on Facebook, you could probably contact Sherrie via that method https://www.facebook.com/dennis.place - some of you might be able to also read these postings - https://www.facebook.com/groups/390913967941/ I've not had much luck linking stuff on Facebook - but I tried.

Should anyone else wish to contribute via Paypal you can send it safely to my paypal address which is RLTSR AT Y ahoo . com

Please correct the address by removing spaces and @ instead of AT. The caps are also unnecessary but are there for clarity. Thanks in advance.

Nice job, Rich.
Dave called me this morning and told me the bad news. The structure, as well as the content, was a total loss.
Dave's a great guy, and as Rich mentioned, has always been willing to lend a helping hand to any and all fellow pool players. I know these are tough times for everyone, but Dave is in a bit of a pickle right now so anything you can do on his behalf would be appreciated.
Thank you all.

I am not aware of any way to send monies via paypal, at this time.
A benefit pool tournament, and auction, has been scheduled for a week from today (9/22/12) at noon CST. You could call Dennis' Place, at that time and pay by credit card over the phone. The phone number there is 417-865-8373. Ask for Sherrie.

Checks, or money orders, may be sent to:
Dennis' Place
921 W. Sunshine St.
Springfield, MO 65807
c/o Sherrie
or,
Billiards of Springfield
541 E. Saint Louis St.
Springfield, MO 65806
c/o Scott

Thanks, again.

Be sure to indicate on any money sent what the purpose is. Thanks to all that want to help.

If you want to send money via paypal, I can accept it in my account and I will for certain make sure Dave gets every penny. Please just PM me for my account email address and again denote the purpose with your contribution. I will give Dave the full amount of any contributions in cash.

My brain farted and shit all over the inside of my head. I don't think I indicated who to send the money to. Thanks, again, Rich.
This will bump the thread back into the spotlight, anyway.

A big thank you to Anonymous (not the user name) for his generous donation. I won't name him but he's been through a similar terrible loss. The donation is greatly appreciated!!

Another big THANK YOU for helping my friend to another terrific AZB member!

If any of you happen to be in or near Springfield, MO. next Saturday at Noon there will be a benefit tournament at Dennis' Place on Sunshine St. A very nice 8 point break-jump cue has been contributed for raffle. There have been other donations of nice gifts to be used as tournament prizes and/or raffled. EVERY PENNY will go to Dave to help him rebuild his life.

I'm getting ready to go to a tournament so will be gone until later tonight. Should anyone else wish to contribute via Paypal you can send it safely to my paypal address which is RLTSR AT Y ahoo . com

terrible

As a close friend of "super dave" myself, and having cues built by him, even watching the first lathe setup in the basement. its def a sad time, and hoping we can get him rolling again, or at least taken care of for the mean time. I'm working hard to possibly find some items i can put in the auction on Saturday for the benefit, i believe there's a cue by "Gilbert" (not Andy Gilbert) which is a B&D cue j/b up for raffle among other things. Hope the turn out is great plus!! did you know at Dennis's at 4pm, MIKE MASSEY will be there with an exhibition??? holy moly!

I was told there was not a penny of insurance. A mistake for sure but he operated on a very slim margin and his prices were more than reasonable.

I'll probably keep bugging you all about this until Friday. All collected money will be given to Dave this coming Saturday. So far there have been only two generous donors from AZB. I know times are tough for most of us, but this fellow, this friend of mine, has lost everything. Please find it in your hearts to help him out.

Here is a small picture of an 8 point jump/break generously donated by another good friend of Dave's. The tickets are only $5 each but I am not the one running that effort.

Sorry to hear about this. I will try to make the tournament next Saturday if I don't have to work.

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for they're support and kind words. The shop didn't have insurance, it barely made enough to pay for itself and keep Dave and his daughter fed and housed. The shop is pretty much a total loss, we managed to pull a few arm loads of soaked wood and some very charred equipment out for hopefully spare parts. We are both completely distraught but I have every intention of finding a way to come out of this and get Dave back behind a lathe where he belongs.

Thanks again everyone for everything
Bob and Dave

It's my understanding that Mike Massey will also be at Dennis' Place starting at 4pm to put on a free demonstration the same day as the benefit tournament. His demo will either be just after the tournament or may cause a delay in the tournament (one that would be worth it).

Bryan, please see info at the bottom of the post below containing all the pictures. Thanks!
