Mosconi 2017 - Updates

It was funny/cute when he freaked out after winning the big tournament in China. But eventually you have to start acting like you've been there before.

You have Alan Hopkins, Jim Rempe, Mike Seigel, Johnny Archer, Mike Massey, Nick Varner and Rodney Morris here, why do we need a European team captain?

You guys are reading way to much into Fillers behavior. And EVEN IF he was acting like an immature brat he is young, still. Hatch is a grown ass man and should act accordingly. You can't take any sort of moral high ground when you are acting more immaturely than someone less than half your age! You can't control how others act, only how you act yourself. Refusing to shake someones hand is pretty extreme and should probably never be done by anyone, but could probably be excused in the most extreme circumstances. You not only make yourself look bad, but you are disrespecting the game itself.

Had the person tried to cheat or something like that, it would be understandable, but that wasn't what happened at all. Filler beat Hatch fair and square and was the better player. Hatch himself shouted and celebrated when he won a game, so he doesn't have a leg to stand on. Filler taking a water break was actually not a bad thing to do, if he was feeling nervous and want to regain composure. I fail to see how this is unsportsmanlike, as he was playing pretty quickly all the way through, and didn't take that long of a break anyway! You can't compare that to Kaci in the US open taking 50 seconds on every hanger! Filler was playing quick by any standard! You'd have to be pretty easily offended to go nuts over that.

Remember when Hatch and Rodney were together on Mosconi Team and they were using the F word and carrying on...They looked and acted like real jerks..Very poor sportsmanship on Hatches part..Don't think I've ever seen him play when he wasn't a bad sport...Never have liked him because of his attitude...

Also when he shook his head after Filler's last break. Like "Omg the good roll".

This type of player will always find excuses for his own inability to win. Very negative behaviour.

He'd better work on his positional play, he's always "late" on balls.

Filler was acting a bit cocky, but Hatch seems to be a fantastic douchebag.

Btw, well done Matchroom website manager: https://imgur.com/a/L7PcN

Do these guys (commentators) really not know what a Predator Revo shaft is??

Hahaha me and my friends were texting that same thing last night. How can these guys be so knowledgeable and they looked the revo shaft like it just came from outer space. They’ve been playing with them for 2 years!

I choose to live in a world with consequences for my actions, that goes for both adult men. Stating that Filler is 20 is giving him a pass for whatever he does. I believe Filler was grandstanding and showboating. I believe he was trying to emasculate Hatch. I don't blame Hatch for leaving one bit. All of that said, it was good theater and really not that big of a deal. I think the whole "excitement" of this is mostly fake, and quite honestly, corny.

I was of the opinion that Filler was grandstanding and showboating before I found out this is evidently his thing. People have commented in several posts about him at the US Open and a recent tourney he just won doing "this type" of thing.

I think your post is over the top. "Disrespecting the game itself"?! Refusing to shake hands is "pretty extreme"?! They're your opinions but I disagree with the emphasis you've put on this whole situation.

Hatch "should" have stayed and shook his hand, one should be a gracious loser. I'd venture to say if Hatch had it to do over again he'd shake his hand. It's easy to judge someone at their worst vs just the perception of how we'd do it.

Thank god they act like this - it's the only drama in the match - it surely isn't the score.

Tensions are high and this could very well be the last MC for USA if they get blown out again. I don't blame any of them.

Emasculate??? Seriously? Has anybody watched Hatch over the years? He has a LONG track record of being a colossal douchbag. The 'ol karmic boomerang just hit Dennis.

What's that got to do with the price of tea in China? So because Hatch has been a "colossal douchbag" in the past gives everyone the right to act anyway they choose now? My stance has ZERO to do with Hatch really. I think Filler was grandstanding and showboating. And yes, I believe he was trying to emasculate Hatch.

Hypothetical, would we be seeing a mushroom cloud over vegas if Earl had been playing and had to watch the celebrating every rack, and then Filler gets the fortunate kick on the break at hill hill that prevents the scratch and sets him up on the 1?

IMO all players, irrespective of side, should shake hands with their opponent before celebrating with other players outside the playing arena.
So in this instance they were both out of order.
Sadly this seems to happen alot in this pool event.

Who is to blame?.......again IMO the team captains should be issuing instructions to their players about stuff like this if necessary.

I truly believe the YOUNG man realized he got caught up in the moment and celebration and came over humble to shake hands after realizing his error in protocol...

Dennis response on the other hand has historically been one of intentional disrespect and the attitude that his gold gloves history and intimidation is a reasonable tool to use in the game of billiards and many disagree with his mentality.

He traditionally pulls this stuff on guys weighing 150 and 5 foot 2!!! He would not treat Jeremy Jones like that and he is 240 and 6 foot 3!!!

So Filler is showboating a bit and Hatch is mad, and soooooo what? It makes for better television for a casual audience, and you DO WANT pool to reach a bigger audience, right? For it to succeed it needs to be show business. So stop your little girl whining about disrespecting the game and acting like a professional. Pool is not golf. Pool is not snooker. Pool is pool and it ought to be a bit rough around the edges. Without emotional content, what have you got?

As for the Revo shaft, I'm sure the commentators know exactly what it is, but they can't say so because they can't plug products that haven't paid for the privilege. Duh...

My stance has nothing to do with either of them. Just shake hands. And lead by example regardless of whether you are the winning side or the losing side. Shake the young man's hand if he comes to you right away or if he walks around the world first. You've been there before.
