Mosconi Cup 2019 Day 3

Not looking so good, eh? Didn't Marcus Chamet give Filler a kind of a goosy hug after
he won a couple of years ago? It looked very, um.... gender neutral.
But seriously, Filler is still pretty young, isn't he? Perhaps something beautiful will grow out of that turd

So far it's just a turd that keeps getting bigger.

Well, 8-6 is still a nice lead but Filler is an absolute monster.

Would someone stand up and start giving him credit for his superb defense? His defense in the Mosconi has been phenomenal. Josh is a complete player in every sense of the word and he's the favorite over every player alive in the world right now. He looks like Europe's best, and possibly only, hope to recapture the Mosconi Cup, but he'll need at least some help from his teammates, for he can deliver just two more points at the most.

Match 15 is huge, as the USA can duplicate the scenario of a year ago, in which they finished session 3 ahead by 9-6. Europe will likely sleep better if they can salvage the last point of the day.

Josh is the real thing. I don't know anyone that would be the favorite against him right now.

His firepower is top notch, and all parts of his game are developed to a high level. His real secret weapon is his attitude. I think he demonstrates the importance of positive energy. If I looked at his game on paper I wouldn't think it was number one, but his results show that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. He responds to adversity and radiates energy and belief. It is like Earl on his best day but more resilient.

The future is unwritten and it won't be easy to maintain this mindset. Many players come on strong for a year or two and then the magic fades a little (Appleton, Immonen, etc). But I think that Josh is so strong that anything he loses in momentum in the future he'll recoup in experience, and I look for him to be a dominant force in pool for a long time.

You don't have to be arrogant in order to be confident or exude positive energy.

Shaw is a good player to have in doubles, but he might cause you to play poorly as a teammate with his consistent comments about what he needs, let the other guy play a position that he's comfortable with, of course, he'll give you the best that he could.

Yeah I think Shaw sharks his teammates all the time.

Edit: just as I posted this, Shaw got down on Niels’ shot and took a few practice strokes at it, got up and told Niels what to do. Niels shot it, and scratched.

He's as bad in doubles as Dechaine was a few years back. Amazing the "coach" doesn't tell him to shut up.
