Mosconi Cup 2021 Day 2 Updates

Interesting they just interviewd Karl Boyes. Before the SVB match, they asked him if Shaw was a big rival. Shane replied that he was a tough opponent, butSVB felt he had the overall edge on him...

Boyes said that fired Shaw up...ya think...
Yeah too bad Shane was raping him till he missed the 7 in game 3. Should've been 3 to 0.

On all the SVB talk, yes heads up SVB is even or the favorite against all of Europe, but, let's not forget, Shaw, Filler, and Albin, it is NOT a huge gap.
SVB is a feel player which isn't great in short races, Europe guys are all text book x's and o's, I believe they are the favorites in this format...

Really? The 9-ball on the break counts as a win at this level? We don’t even have that in our weekly handicapped 9-ball tournaments.

I actually prefer this for the MC given the general format and the amount of emotion that is created during this event. Normal pro tournaments, I don't think it should count, at least in the bottom two corners.

yeah, I think this goes back to the old days win that counted, like when Mosconi played... just a guess..

Yes, that's the case in most top tournaments. Albin got one yesterday.
So I suppose someone is going to tell me that it’s a skillful, planned shot at the pro level? It just doesn’t seem right to me, particularly for such a short race format. Is it the case even in a hill-hill match break situation?

no, not me... but I find it's much hard with the templet than the old school rack... 🤷‍♂️

Yes, allowing the nine ball for a win on the break is much less prevalent when using a template for racking, guaranteeing all balls are frozen which makes it very hard for the 9 ball to move significantly unless another ball or the cue ball comes off a cushion to kick it in.

Pushout after Shane's break, Jayson plays safe, Shane fails on the jump-resafe attempt, Jayson and Albin run out. US up 3-2.
