Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

I like our chances in match #11. I make Shane a slight favorite. If the other matches go according to form the score would be 9-2 at that point in time. Then Matchroom/Sky could cancel match 12 and we could start talking about a miracle comeback on Day Four. I'm sorry to be so blunt but there is a better chance of this happening than USA winning the day 3 or 4 to 1. My prediction, 11-3 final score.

Aloysius Yapp said it best when asked why he puts so much time into practicing (up to 8 hours-839 Fargo Rate)
“It’s my job.”

Lots of drama queens on here.

The USA team are all world class players. Numerous major titles between them. They aren't a bunch of randoms from some bar.

Play the Mosconi every week until a team wins 50 times. I bet both teams would get 40+ wins.

As enjoyable as it is seeing the Kansas City Chiefs (probably) not make the NFL playoffs this season - then (sadly) that doesn't mean that they're now a bad team. Just things haven't broken well for them this season. Just like USA have missed a few key balls. That's the difference.

The goal is always to make the least errors.

You think Billy Thorpe and Tyler Styer are world class players? They are not even top 100 players in the world. At least Skyler is #40 in the world when it comes to Fargo.

What major titles have any of them won in the past couple of years?

We are severely outranked. You say if they play the Mosconi every week until 50 then both teams would get 40+ wins.

We've played for the last 18 years in a row and only won 3.

A random from a bar could've gotten position on that 9 ball that Tyler missed. I've seen it many times.

You say we're drama queens but then you try to make a football comparison. Footballs fans are the biggest drama queens in all of sports. I've seen people cry, or get into fist fights just because of verbal arguments on who's team is better. Very low IQ stuff.

Do you even watch this?

Thorpe is not a world class player. Styer is borderline. Can he make another push? Or has he reached his ceiling?

I am not sure. He has great fundamentals and at times plays superb. He beat Filler and Oi to get to the 2025 UK Open SEMI-finals, and he really should have beaten the eventual champion Yapp. (CORRECTION).

Yet he often gets sent to the loser's side of the bracket in big tourneys and has to fight to get to the elimination stage. He also makes more questionable decisions of any top player I've seen the past few years.

Tbh, nothing I've seen makes me believe Tyler can rise about himself. He just gets inside his own head too much.

It does make you wonder what would be more predictable for team events like this in terms of FargoRate. If I play someone 100 FargoRate points ahead of me we’d have to play three games to be confident I should reasonably win one of them.

For Mosconi Cup how would you assess the ratings to determine how many cups need to be played before US wins one? The difference between the average of the players ratings? Or the difference between the sum of the players ratings?

Top esports prize money:
The highest-paid esports player, based purely on tournament prize money, is Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, primarily from Dota 2, with over $7 million earned, largely from winning The International twice. He's followed by fellow Dota 2 pros like JerAx, ana, Miposhka, and Ceb, with most top earners coming from Dota 2 due to its massive prize pools.

Top Earners (Prize Money Only)

N0tail (Johan Sundstein): ~$7.18 million (Dota 2)
JerAx (Jesse Vainikka): ~$6.49 million (Dota 2)
ana (Anathan Pham): ~$6.02 million (Dota 2)
Miposhka (Yaroslav Naidenov): ~$6.01 million (Dota 2)
Ceb (Sébastien Debs): ~$5.95 million (Dota 2)

These figures are only prize winnings; they don't include salaries, sponsorships, or streaming income, which can significantly alter a player's total earnings.

Well lets hope USA gets a couple rolls and grab a win and start believin'.

It does feel exactly like last Reyes cup. Europe immediately trailing a lot, seemingly not feeling it, no teamspirit, then win a point or two with a slimmer of hope.... aaaand they lost.

Instead of having the cup as an exhibition with set payouts for each team whether they win or lose, have it set up as a TPA tourney and you'd have a clear TPA singles and doubles champion. This way the cup itself would just be a bonus and there'd be real incentive for Team America to put in some real practice/focus on the specific event and even if they are down as a team they still have individual incentive to perform til the end. If this type of format wouldn't start to balance things out then nothing else could. If you you are an elite player on a historically terrible team you shouldn't be punished for that as an individual financially! The main issues are overall team chemistry and how the bottom 2 - 3 players perform, this type of format could remedy half of those issues in 2 - 3 years. Europe would still be a favorite but only on a team basis, not individual.

Styer is tied for #99 in Fargo lol.
There are undoubtedly another hundred asian players that are not established enough to make the Fargo list but would be above them both.
